After hearing the endorsement of a popular local radio home handyman, I decided to have my deck "permanently sealed" so from that point on, the only alledged maintenance required would be cleaning. All I received for my $1700 was a substandard deck cleaning.
Anyone looking at my deck now who had also seen my deck before it was treated by Sealmaxx would come to a simple conclusion: This product has absolutely zero sealing ability. My deck, which was in very good condition when Sealmaxx coated it with who knows what, is now a cracking, warping, splintering mess.
Their "25 year guarantee" only guarantees you a re-application of a worthless product. I even emailed the radio home repairman referenced above and asked him where the rainfall on my deck is going if it isn't beading up on the wood (Sealmaxx tells their customers that their product "seals from the inside out and thus, water will not bead up on it). He responded that it was unanswered questions like these that persuaded him to give up advertising for them.
I attempted to contact the company several times but they didn't respond. I also contacted the Better Business Bureau who said they sent two letters and called Sealmaxx. The BBB also received no response. They informed me they can do nothing more.
My opinion: Sealmaxx is trying to scam as many people as they can before the word gets out that their product is a golden farce. This is a product ripe for a lawsuit.
