Waste of Money, Worse Customer Service Ever, Horrible Contractors!

We moved into our home the first of July in a 12 year old home with a Old Republic Home Protection Policy. We had the house inspected prior to close and a/c was fine, older but fine. On July 21st, the A/C went out. We promptly called Old Republic to file a claim.

We were told that dispatcher would call us in the morning and that we were considered high priority since my elderly parents were staying with us and we are in Southeastern Texas with over 100 degree outside temperatures.

We were contacted by dispatch to let us know that Kool Breeze would be at our home between 2-7 that day. We waited until 6:30 and called Kool Breeze directly to see if they were still coming since we were stuck waiting in the heat of our house. We were told they were on their way as we spoke. They never showed.

I promptly called dispatch at 7:00 am and was told the contractor said they would be out between 5-6 that day. I knew from calling the company direct that they closed at 5 and were stalling so that they could get away with not showing up again. When I called them on it, they denied it and said they were just so busy and they were doing Old Republic a "favor" by coming out.

Kool Breeze even called in Hurricane Dolly as an excuse for not showing up. Hurricane Dolly wasn't even close to us and did not make landfall or a drop of rain in our area until Wednesday morning and at that it was no more than a little rain. When she was telling me this, the sun was shining at my location and she said it was at her location also.

After completely going ballistic on these people, Kool Breeze got out to my home that afternoon. They said the repair was complete.By 6 pm, we had water from the "repair" pouring through my great room ceiling. A problem we did not have prior to the a/c going out, during our 2 day wait or before Kool Breeze's repair.

I called Old Republic and their dispatch wanted to issue ANOTHER service req and said I would have to pay an additional $60 for another deductible or they would not help me or even put it in their system. Not that Kool Breeze would show up without threats anyways. I asked to speak to a supervisor.

After 30 minutes on the phone on hold, I was told that I would have to leave a message for secondary claims and they would send me a letter in response at a later date. I have water coming through my ceiling because of them and they want me to wait for a letter in the mail. Their customer service rep is suppose to call me around noon to see if Kool Breeze has come out. I am not holding my breath!

Don't let your Realtor tell you this coverage will protect you! Ask the seller to give you the money and set it aside for repairs, repairs you contract out with someone that wants your business. I am a license Realtor in the state of Ohio and do not encourage my buyers or sellers to purchase these products. I was assured by my Texas Realtor that it was different down here. After everything they have put us through and her through, she is probably rethinking her decision.
