In August I was moving in my new home when a Kirby door to door salesman came up to the door. He presented himself and ask if i would be interested in haveing my carpets clearned for free. At first I said no that i couldnt afford to purcess a new vactume right now and that it would be a waste of his time. He explaned to me that he gets paid by the hour from his employer and that if I didnt want to purches the vacume that he will still be paid. I thouhgt ok, help someone get a couple of hours on there paycheck. I asked him to come back a few days latter, because this was the first day in my new home. My mother in-law was intrested in having her carpets cleaned at the same time so we set up the appointment for a Friday afternoon. The saleman arrived hour late and the show of the carpet cleaning took 3 hours insted of the 1 hour he had originaly said. I did purches a vacume / cleaning system. I was late meeting my husband for dinner and not only that but the vacume was 1400.00 dollars! At the time of the purchess I thought that the Kirby was going to be a great investment the sales man said that it had a life-time warrenty not to mention the all of the wounderfull things that it can do. Blow up balls and swiming pools, shampoo the carpets and I bet if the would have pressed for more information It probly would have been able to cook dinner for my family too. The sales man need to return to the office and pick up another vacume because I foolishly talked my mother in-law into purchessing one also. Her's was only 900.00 dollars and that was the first warring sign that this was not a good deal. The salesperson didnt return until 8: oopm It took 5 hours for him to return with the allready purchesed vacume and the "free" carpet cleanning went until after 10:30 pm. He told her that the carpets would be dry in three hours and it took three days.
Both of our husbands were up-set with our purchess so we made the best of the dession we had made for about two months. Until we both had to admit that this vacume was waste of time and money! You have to vacume each room several times just to get the little stuff vacummed up and than on your hands and knees you go to pick up any lint or other things that the vacume just didnt have the power to pick up.
We have both stopped using the vacume because it is a waste of time and energy. I called the salesman again and question him on how I can return the vacume and or sell it back to Kirby? I was told that he would come back out the house and make sure it is working correctly, If the vacume is going to break in less than a years period of time and with minnimal use I know that I really dont the vacume. I was told that I can call the office that he works from and that the manager Stan can help me. Stan right off the bat said no that he dosent returm or buy back vacummes because of how expencssive all of the services are that the company picks up in order to sell the vacume to me. Ie the visa machine that charges 35 cents to run my credit card. I tried to politly end the phone conversation, and he wanted to argue with me about the choice of my current vacume and what a poor choice i have made it purcessing a Dyson vacume. I explained to him that the problem is that I'm contacting him to returm the kirby vacumes that my mother in-law and I purcessed not get his personal consumer report on Dyson vascumes and it should be plain enough for him to see that I'm not contacting the Dyson dealer this morning. Stan REFUSSED to helpm and told me point black that noone will take the vacume back or buy it and I should ask my friends or family if they would like to buy it from me. I wouldnt see a pice of junk to someone I care about!
Dont buy aq Kirby Vaccume! They are heavy occward and hard to use, not to mention they dont have any power, my broom dose the same job as the Kirby. Way over priced and not to mention that all of tool accories took up an entire closet. It was difficult to use the tools because you have to take the vacume aprt and re-build it each time you want to vacume the window seel.
Beware Oregon the Kirby dealer is going to knock on your door soon.
