Furniture missing - was ordered 9/23 and still not here!

Our situation is very similar to the other reports I have read regarding the former Ashley Furniture here in Ocala. We placed our order on 9/23/07 for a full bedroom set and at this point have not received it.

We have called many times with many promises to let the manager know of our concerns with only one response. We did speak with the mystery manager on one occasion which he did refund our delivery fee. With this conversation we held out hope.

And weeks later, still no furniture - no phone call. We went to the store on several occasions and were quite concerned when we saw the Ashley sign was covered over and there were signs up for a huge going out of business sale. We went back to costumer service and found another woman there in a similar situation.

Again we were told more stories — the several we heard were1) the head board is not in yet, we are waiting on that, 2) it is all there and should be on the truck this week, 3) I don't know who told you the furniture was in, but it is not, 4) I will mark this as urgent and see that the manager gets it first thing, 5) the manager should be in within the next hour and I will have him call you.

We are lucky however that we purchased the furniture on our Discover card. After calling them, a dispute was filed. When Ashley/Flair Furniture could not prove that they delivered our furniture it was finally settled in our favor. We were given a full refund through Discover. Thank goodness we payed with that card.

The thing that really scares me is that on our last visit to the store and older couple was leaving as we were entering and made a coment along the lines of we will buy everything - with that my husband's response was "I will never buy anything from this company again." The couple questioned us and we simply stated that we were still waiting months later for our furniture. We then asked if they had made a purchase - they said they had. We then asked if they were taking it with them today and they responded that they were told it would be Tuesday because a truck had broken down.

So the lies continue. How can this keep happening? How can they keep selling furniture without delivering? They are taking money out of the pockets of hard working people who are living on a budget (hence shopping at a sale!).

I hope that everything works out for the people who are still without furniture.
