I hired a company from Fort Lauderdale and they hired a company from Atlanta, Georgia. I was not notified of this change until they came to move me.
They brought a rented Budget truck and a u-haul trailer and when I told them my household would not fit in this truck they proceeded to cram everything they could into this truck and u-haul and then they needed to get another truck anyway.
Every item I own was either scratched, dented, broken, chipped, or dirty. My mattress looked like it was dragged behind the truck. My things were not properly wrapped or cushioned which voided my insurance warranty. When I asked the movers, they said, "you have insurance, what are you worried about?"
I purchased a second insurance policy for approximately $150.00 and insured my big items for $9000.00, they want to give me $1200.00 for repairs.
They would not cover anything that was not properly wrapped, which was everything. My mattress and my leather and upholstered sofas were not covered under the insurance either.
I tried to hire an attorney but they said it was pointless, the movers have more rights than the consumer.
The movers not only destroyed all of my things, I had to call the police at the end of the day because he tried to accost me. He was trying to force me to sign off on his paperwork that said everything arrived in good condition and when I refused he came at me as if to hit me.
I want these people stopped from moving anyone else, this was the worst experience I have ever had.
