9/29/07 A/C down and call it in to First American Home buyers. Said they would fax WO into Service company, and I should hear something on Monday unless they work weekends.
Monday 3pm still no notice from the service company. We call Service company, as usual they have no fax from FAHBP, and they state that they are really busy and it may be 2 to 3 days before they can get to us!!!
Call FAHBP and talk to a lady (very nice and helpfull) and she FAXs the WO saying I guess they just didn't get it... Now I am starting to heat up a bit. Its been 3 days without air and it is still hot in TX in Spetember.
Finally get a call setting up an appointment for Tuesday. Tuesday they come out at 3PM look at the outside unit and say that the fan motor is bad... That the coils are dirty and need to be cleaned and that the unit is to close to the house, something about it needing to be 14 inches from the wall? I generally clean the fins every 2 or 3 months and yep they get dirty, and I clean them. Service Provider even told me they may not honor the cliam...
So the Service Provider tells me it is a common fan motor and they may have one in the shop or they would have to get one, but it should be no later than Thursday (6 Days) and he would call and let us know on Wednesday. No call on Wednesday, so we call them. They tell us CLAIM DENIED!!!
I call FAHBP and talk with ERICA to figure out 1. Why it was denied, and 2. Why we were not called.
Answer to 1, Improper installation of the unit was cited for the failure, and FAHBP will not cover that. What is the proper installation??? No answer. Now the A/C is exempt from the warranty... Can I get the unit Fixed? Yes but at your expense... Now I am out $50.00 for someone to come out and look at it and now I have to pay for the repairs my-self??? Yes, I was told.
Answer to #2. We only processed this today so you would have been called tomorrow... Yeah Right...
We are now getting another service provider to come out and fix it plus do a report about the installation of the unit.
Hopefully I can send this info in and get paid. That should be part 2 of this report.
Will I get satisfaction???
