My water heater started leaking it was 37 years old. Obviously it was a quality life time product. A service request was made on a Friday night and the unit was replaced the following Wednesday at 4:30 PM. The replacement unit had only a 5 year warranty. The contractor said that 5 years is all that AHS allows. I contacted AHS they said they match the gallon capacity and wattage only nothing else.in other words not the quality. I remarked that I pay top dollar and AHS replaces a top quality product with a piece of crap. Then there were more surprises about the installation. The $55 service fee, plus $65 for a permit, Plus $50 disposal fee plus a copper charge $25. One would think that AHS would cover the replacement task in its entirety - Equipment, Parts & Labor.
A water heater with a Lifetime warranty would cost $210 more according to Lowes & Home Depot prices.
This is my most recent experience with AHS I have had several others in the past the pattern is the same. So this is not an isolated case that I have experienced personally. I will not renew my contract.
An interesting observation is: Nowhere in their contract will you find a business address also their enclosed letter thanking for the renewal has no address there is a hidden message here. AHS from my experience over the past 7 years is a rip off and not worth the money. Poor service combined with incompetent contractors and hidden charges.
On a final note, if you would like to receive training on how to be rude to people over the phone call AHS, you will get some practical one-on-one training so far they are not charging for this.
