Alex Silva at Silva construction gave us an estimate on a stamped and colored concrete patio in our backyard. After the estimate we were told to choose a color and stamp. We choose a color and stamp pattern. We were only told that we had 3-4 colors to choose from and any other colors we choose would be extra from the estimate of 2600.
We choose a nice color that would match our house. The patio as then put in, stamped, and colored. We did not notice anything abnormal until the concrete started to dry. As the concrete began to dry we started to notice a inconcsistency in the stamping texture as well as the color of the concrete. The color we were seeing looked very very similar to standard grey concrete. As it dried completely the color was nothing like the color we picked out. Also the patio was developing white chalky spots all over it.
We spoke with Alex and he simply said the color was our fault since we had chosen such a subtle color. Also he said the color would come out in a few months and be much more dramatic. Alex also said the conrete needed to be sealed whcih would help the color and protect the patio but it would cost additional money.
We asked for it to be changed but was told we got what we picked out and paid for.
We have since contacted a concrete expert who is going to refinish the patio to the specefications we originally wanted. He said the color of the patio looks like little to no stain was used and the person was trying to save money and did not put nearly enough stain in.
We are seeking a complete refund of 2600 to put toward the 3600 to get the patio resurfaced and finsihed correctly.
