I purchased a frigidaire dyer Jan 29. The dyer was delivered on Feb 1 and on Feb 17th the NEW dyer stopped heating it took 1 1/2 hours to dry a load of clothes.
A tech came over diagnosed the problem and stated it was the thermostat. He replaced that and the dryer worked ok after that although it never seems to really heat. It takes a long time to dry my clothes.
On Feb 25th I was washing and drying clothes the first load was fine when I put the second load in the dryer and started drying them I left the room and my daughter and I smelled something burning.
I went back to the laundry room and the smell was really strong. I opened the dryer door and smoke started coming out. I immediately removed the clothes and also removed the lint trap which was clean. I clean it after EVERY load and could immediately see fire. I unpluged the dryer and shut off the gas. My husband came down with the fire extinguisher and put out the fire.
I called the company first thing Monday morning and they sent over a tech on March 1st the tech sent frigidaire a report stating the dryer had a malfunction with the gas valve the valve never closed it remained open letting gas seep out and that's what caused my dryer to not only BURN but Melt in the inside.
Frigidaire stated the dyer was no longer under warranty so the best they could do was offer me a 40% rebate. I had this dyer serviced a couple weeks after purchase and burn when it reached 2 years. This dyer could have burnt my house down. The malfunction was due to a defect and they want me purchase a new product from them NO THANKS! Do not buy anything from frigidaire this company does NOT stand behind their products.
