These bunch of clowns called my wife and I on a telemarketing call even though we're on the do not call list. We moved into the house late last summer, and our home inspector said the chimney needed cleaning. The price the telemarketer offered seemed like a deal so we agreed to let them come out.
We set up an appointment during the week when I was at work, thinking that these were legitimate people and I didn't need to stand over their shoulder watching what they were doing. My wife told me that when they finally got to the house (They were 3 hours late), it was just a couple of snot nosed kids in a beat up van. Apparently, one started doing the "cleaning" while the other went on the roof to do a "free" inspection. My wife said this punk ass kid came off the roof a couple of times and said the home inspector "missed" some of the issues about our chimney, and said he would go ahead and do what it would take to bring our chimney up to "code".
My wife isn't a stupid woman, and if this kid had told her it was going to be $1400 worth of work to bring our chimney up to "code", she would have held off and we would have gotten a 2nd opinion. Unfortunately, 45 minutes after this punk started working on our chimney he was done and pressuring her to write him a check, which unfortunately, she did.
When I got home and heard what had happened, I looked over our "invoice" trying to figure out how our bill went from $35 to $1400. This "invoice" looked more like the chicken scratch. Who ever this asshole was, he had all kinds of figures added in, and subtracted out. It took me the better part of 3 days and me having to crawl out on the roof to figure out what the bill was about. As best I can make out, they put some sort of cap on my chimney ($527), smeared silicon on the top on my chimney ($331), smeared more silicon where my roof and chimney meet ($212), and then did something with something called a "flue joint" ($263).
I called their offices the night they were at our home and was told the manager, and the owner were both gone for the night. I repeatedly called over the next two weeks to try to speak with a manager, owner, or anyone that could give me a clue what we paid for, and how to get my money back. I kept running into the same walls, either no one was ever available or there was no answer.
As a new home owner, this was a eye opener of an experience, especially when I decided to see what I could find out about this company on-line. I type in their name and address and what is the first site to come up? Usacomplaints.com! I hope that people decide to look into who ever they decide to have come out to work on their home before they actually do. If we had been a little smarter we would still have $1400 we couldn't afford to lose with Christmas around the corner.
Unfortunately, we've been completely screwed, and the best thing we can do is report it to the Attorney General office. Do yourself a favor and tell your friends to AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!
