Roto-Rooter RIP OFF!

On 10/13 we began having plumbing problems in our lines going to our septic tank. We called Roto-Rooter thinking this is a nationally known company and hired professional well-trained plumbers to fix our problem. We were so very wrong. We live out in the country and had no problem paying the $3.10 mileage thinking the service rep would fix our problem. I will give kudos on promptness as within a half hour after placing the call, the service tech was dispatched to our home. When the service tech arrived (Terry Knapp) he walked around our home with my spouse and let us know we have a 2 inch pipe on our roof, something we already knew. The service tech was then showed where under our home the pipe to our septic tank was leaking due to a blockage somewhere in the line from the underneath of our home to the septic tank. Terry was shown exactly where the line ran to our tank. He then took a poker and punctured a hole in the pipe running to the septic tank and sewage began coming up from that hole. He walked another three foot down the pipe and poked another hole. We now had two holes right in front of our back porch with sewer water coming out of them. He then stated he did not know where our septic tank was but he could help us dig for it for an hourly rate.infuriated by the fact the not only did we still have a clogged pipe, we now had to repair the pipe that now had two holes in it. The service tech Terry was asked to leave our property. He was here for a total of 15 minutes.

After this we placed a call to the dispatch office and advised them of this situation. She then advised us that a supervisor will call us back on Monday as this happened on a Friday around 5:00 P.M. On Monday a supervisor did not call. We called the office and spoke to a supervisor. The situation that happened was explained. The supervisor then stated he would not fix what the tech had broke and that if we wanted Roto-Rooter to pay for any of the damages caused, we would have to go to court and we could go get bent for all he cared.

I find this completely unacceptable. Not only did we rely on your company to fix our problem, we were left with a more serious situation on our hands. Because of this situation, we had to hire another plumber to come out and dig to our septic tank and unclog the lines to stop the sewage leaking from the holes as this was a situation the needed remedied immediately. The plumber that came was able to locate our septic tank with in 5 minutes of his arrival and unclog our lines, which we found out were caused from tree roots.

Now today we received a bill from Roto-Rooter for $203.50. This was another slap in the face to us. We have close to $600.00 already invested in fixing our clog and repairing the sewer line. To pay for a service tech to come out and make our problem worse is unacceptable.
