RIPOFF Price Gouging Tax Evasion Use of Illegal Workers

On Wednesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 20 I experienced a flood at my residence. At the recommendation of a family member, we contacted a General Contractor, Brian Gream (214) 542-6214 / 5407 Richard Avenue, Dallas, TX 75206), to have the situation assessed and resolved.

On Thursday, April 20 Mr. Gream assessed the situation and recommended two (2) immediate fixes, along with several long term fixes, to stop the water from entering my home: 1) install gutters around the roof line of my home; and 2) install a cement facing in the area in which the water was entering my home.

On the afternoon of Friday, April 21, Mr. Greem sent out an individual, Dan Marino, to provide an estimate for the gutters. I was satisfied with the estimate and references provided by Mr. Marino, therefore, I instructed Mr. Marino to install the gutters. I was very satisfied with his work.

On Monday, May 1, with the threat of rain in the forecast, Mr. Gream contacted my wife and stated that he had his concrete contractor in our neighborhood and could do complete the concrete work for approximately $150 - $200.

The work was not completed as scheduled. On Friday, May 5 Mr. Gream f contractor arrived and completed the work.

On Monday, May 8 Mr. Gream left a voice mail for my wife stating that he needed payment left in the mailbox for his contractor, however, he did not state who to make the check payable to or the amount.

On Tuesday, May 9 my wife called Mr. Gream and stated that we needed to make payment and needed to know the who to make the check payable to and in what amount. A second call was made to Mr. Gream on Thursday, May 11. After no response from Mr. Gream, we asked the family member that referred us to have Mr. Gream contact us to arrange payment.

On Friday, May 12, Mr. Gream left a message for my wife stating that we should leave a check made payable to gVictorh in the amount of $654. A check made payable to Victor in the amount of $654 was left in our mailbox over the weekend. On Tuesday, May 16 Mr. Gream called my wife, while we were at an orthopedic clinic with my injured son, demanding payment. It turns out that the check was to be made payable to gJoseh, not Victor. Mr. Gream asked that the check be made payable to gJose Venturah.

Later in the day (on Tuesday, May 16), I spoke with Mr. Gream. I informed him that I have a cashierfs check in the amount of $650 made payable to Jose Ventura. I told Mr. Gream that I would deliver the check to Mr. Ventura. At that time, I would like an written invoice for my records and to ensure that I could enforce warranty if needed (Mr. Gream stated that the work was not warranted).

Mr. Gream informed me that was not possible. I pushed the issue and Mr. Gream told me to make the check payable to him, rather than Mr. Ventura. I stated that I have already gone to the bank and got the cashierfs check, made payable to Mr. Ventura. I stated that I would pay Mr. Ventura.

I asked Mr. Gream if Jose Ventura was an illegal alien. At first, Mr. Gream would not answer, then he stated gto my knowledge he is not. H Now suspicious, I told Mr. Gream that I needed Mr. Venturafs Federal Tax ID or Social Security Number for Mr. Ventura on the invoice. Mr. Gream stated that gto provide my customers with the best possible price, I work with some contractors and help them not pay taxes on jobs. H

At this time, my concerns are: Mr. Gream arranged for the concrete work on my home to be completed by a non-reputable business person, Jose Ventura. Mr. Ventura may be an illegal alien and unauthorized to work in the United States. As a result, I have no remedy to resolve any issue that may arise in the future with the work that has been completed.

Mr. Gream is using illegal aliens, without the consent of his customers, to perform work. Mr. Gream is arranging for payments gunder the tableh to prevent paying taxes.

What I am seeking: I am seeking proper documentation for the work that has been performed at my property by Mr. Gream fs cement contractor, Jose Ventura. Mr. Gream had the work completed by a non-reputable business / person, thus leaving me with no remedy to resolve any issues in the future.

Specifically, the cement facing installed by Mr. Greamfs contractor is for the purpose of preventing water from entering the den of my home. I am seeking a warranty for the work performed, to function as intended and a means to resolve issues that may occur in the future in regard to this work.
