Complaint / Review
Power Air Technology
Ripoff

My story starts 4/27/06 when Paul Solomon the owner showed up with his crew to do this central air conditioning installation. Prior to install, my wife made sure to tell Paul to be extra careful when it came to doing the correct electrical work as she had a friend who had a fire in her house as a result of not doing correct electrical work. Paul's response was not to worry, he'll do the right thing.

So, when I was home during this install, I asked Paul how he was going to run the line for electricity, and he told me he already found the answer by using the existing line from my wall unit. I asked him " is that ok" and he said absolutely.

Well, when they were done we began to look at their work to discover what a shoddy installation was done where the air handler isn't closing correctly and opens by itself, the dusty mess left all over my suits and loose thermostat wiring left in the closet that wasn't tacked to the wall (see pictures). I called Paul to let him know and he assured me that he would take care of it.

Two days later, I had an electrician over doing unrelated work. I asked this licensed electrician to take a look at the wiring job done for the compressor for the central A/C and he said sure (I just had a bad feeling after seeing some of the work performed).

After inspecting the wiring job, the electrician tells me that Power Air Technology took a short cut by using an existing 12 gauge wire which was fine for the existing wall unit, but was NOT fine for the new central A/C install. I was told that the unit was on a 12 gauge wire with a 30 amp breaker.instead it should have been on 8 gauge wire and a 40 amp breaker.

This would cause the wires to get extremely hot, possibly melt and was surely a fire hazard if not corrected. Also, the compressor would become damaged after a couple of years.in addition, the shut off box needed to be in line-of-site and within reach of the unit, which it was not.

I was shocked to hear this and realize that this company and this despicable person would endanger my family by taking this short cut.

I asked this licensed electrician to make the changes and correct this which he did fo $300.00.

I called Power Air Technology and spoke to Paul to tell him this.

Paul said quote " the wiring didn't have to be 8 gauge but 10 would be ok" That confirmed that he knew exactly what was done and I told him that I had a licensed electrician over and this is what he told me. Paul said that he'd send his guy over which I said no to, I do not trust you or your guy.instead I will submit a bill for the work done and Paul would re-imburse me. Paul asked me how much which I told him 350 dollars (later after hearing this story, my electrician only charged $300 dollars)

And Paul said that's too much (the gall of this guy, putting my family in harms way and then trying to wiggle out of this. I restated that I would not trust anyone from his employ to come and fix this fire hazard, and that I wanted him to reimburse me for it.

He grudgingly agreed and proceeded to hang up on me.

In the meantime, we've been trying to get this company to send someone over to correct the other issues (see above and pictures).

My wife was told that they'll call back which they never did.

I am not going to let this issue go away. I expect to see a check for $ 300 dollars. It's not the money as much as it's the principle here. It amazes me that someone would jeopardize lives for a lousy couple of hundred dollars (I figure that's the money this tight-wad saved by not having an electrician do a new electrical run).

The install was 4/27/06 and I write this 5/15/06 yet to see any resolution to this problem. I was told we'd get a phone call back 5/15/06 to get something on the schedule.

I am going to wait till 7/29/06 before I post this and link it to Google, the best web search engine out there. I'm not sure if this will be addressed by Paul Solomon but once this web site is linked to a search engine, any time someone types an individual word or combination of " Power " "Air" "Technology" this is the web site that they'll be greeted with.

I plan to expand this to the Better Business Bureau and various consumer entities like " shame on you", etc before getting my family and / or legal counsel involved..., Again, Paul's mistake was to worship the buck instead of taking care of the customer.

Now he has a zealot against him that will do whatever can be done to discourage future victims from falling prey to this con-artist and crook.

He's already lost my endorsement and any future business that my General Contractor may have given him. See, I had a GC doing kitchen work over at the same time as the A/C install, and the GC asked me if I would recommend Power Air because the GC's guy was getting a little weird. You can imagine what I told my general contractor.:-)

Paul - simple message - just make this right...
