Yancey Brothers ripoff unprofessional slow sloppy work

I chose Yancey Bros. To put in a new roof, new gutters, and a solar tube. The gutters and tube went in fine, as they were out-sourced to other companies. The roof itself was supposed to take a week at most. It took almost a month.

Communication was non-existent from them - I never knew when they'd show up unless I contacted them. Even then there were times when they gave me a day they'd be working, and then never show up or call.

For the extended duration of the project, I could not use my garage, as they kept a debrie pile on my driveway and had me sign a waiver at the beginning of the project making sure I'd park on the street while they were here. Of course, they were rarely there, but since I had no idea when they'd show up I had to keep the car in the street.

On top of that, I had to replace my tires shortly after they started when a nail punctured one tire. Since the tire started going flat as I was pulling away from my house, I'm guessing the nails in the debrie pile had rolled into the street.

Not that the pile was the only place to find their trash. I'm still finding nails and staples around the outside of my house.

The best part was after they finished the roof. Turns out they never bothered to check how thick the boards on my roof were, and used nails that were way too long. So, not only did I have to put up with nails on the ground and a pile of garbage for weeks, but dozens, if not hundreds, of nails poked out from every awning, painfully visible to anyone who bothered to look up. And those were just the visible ones - the entire roof has the same problem.

When I finally had enough and complained, they agreed to send someone out to try to fix it. Rather than pull out the nails, though, it looks like they tried to cut the part that was poking out. Only the nails on the awnings were worked on - I can tell because all the the nails in the garage part of the roof are still poking through.

I say "looks like" because once again they didn't show up when they said they would, and most likely came during the week while I was at work. Most of the awning nails do look trimmed, though there are still some poking out a little and I can't really tell if the dark spots over my door are nails or just the exposed wood from there the nails came through.

Of course, now all the awnings (including above the front door) have holes in them. They may not leak (I don't know yet), but they look god-awful and will need to eventually be filled and painted over. Not that Yancey Brothers even offered to help in that area.

All in all, this was easily the worst investment I've made to the house. Not in merit, but in execution. One purpose for this was to raise my home value. Their complete lack of professionalism makes me think I did the opposite. Definitely stay away from these folks if you're looking for a roof.
