My husband and I were quoted 4 different prices of furniture within the same week. The price for a leather sectional at sticker was $2599. We asked for the total price drive out with tax, warranty, etc and he wrote $2149 on the back of the business card. We had already advised him we planning on buying later in the week.

When we went to buy it, the salesman "forgot" the tax which was $180 more. We were upset and asked the salesman to come back down on the price. He refused.

We priced the same sectional at other dealers and still were not able to get a better price, I even had a friend call and price the couch and they were quoted $2800. So I called the salesman yesterday and told him that we were still interested in the furniture and wanted to order it for the price plus tax which was around $2300.

After waiting 4 hours for a callback he did call and advised my husband he had again misquoted us and priced the sectional without 2 of the pieces. We spoke to a sales manager and explained our dissatisfaction, that we feel that the $2300 price is what we would agree to and that we felt they needed to honor it. Even though the manager admitted he 'd had multiple complaints against the same employee for similar issues, he insisted the salesman had made an "honest" mistake and did not look it up correctly. I advised the manager, Lee, that it was not our mistake the salesman had not only made one, but TWO mistakes and they should correct it, and that I found it VERY hard to belive that he could misquote us without two of the pieces since the whole set is out on the salesfloor. The manager refused to honor the price.

Today we drove about 180 miles roundtrip to the metroplex to purchase furniture and had a very pleasant experience. We got exactly what we wanted with no hassle and spent about a whopping 45 minutes actually in the store. We spend more money that we would have actually spent at Patriot. It's their loss.

I am glad that we did not purchase the furniture from Patriot. I can only imagine what the nightmare would be if we had an issue with warranty or a delivery issue. If they can't even get their pricing right, then we don't want to deal with them. We feel they were trying to take advantage of us becuase they knew we wanted it so they kept upping the price. My husband and I are in sales so we know how it works. I briefly considered taking this situation to a district manager, but again, being in sales we know we probably wouldn't get any more action out of anyone else.
