Ripoff Scam Poor Customer Service Work not guaranteed Techs do not show up as scheduled

Do not do buisness with RANGERS HEATING & AC!!!

I was having issues with my upstairs air conditioner unit and was provided this contractor through First American Home Buyers my home warranty. Rangers Heating & AC contacted me on 05/24/06 at 9:00am to set up my appointment for a technician to come out. My husband and I, both work during the week so I scheduled my appointment for Saturday, May 27, I was told someone would be there between the hours of 8am and noon. At 12:15, I called the company and talked to the dispatcher Sylvia, she said that the technicians were running behind schedule but that I was first on their list. Hours and hours went by and nobody called me back nor did they show up.

After 3pm, Sylvia stopped answering my calls and the phone just rang with no answer. I was furious and called First American Home Warranty to file a complaint. They took the complaint and said they would contact the dispatcher on a special line and call back. Finally at 7:30pm, the service tech called and said that he was on his way over. He showed up and looked at the A/C but said that the coils needed cleaning and that was not covered under our warranty, he said that he would clean them for $450.00. My husband said this was a high price and would like to shop around for someone else but could he at least add coolant to the system. The technician agreed to do that and said that he would do that for no charge. He was upstairs for about 30 minutes and we assumed he had fixed the problem. Before he left, we asked him if the AC was cooling the upstairs and he said that it was and you could definitely feel it coming out of the vents.

We paid the $65.00 fee and even gave him an extra $20 for a tip. It was not till an hour later, I went upstairs and found that it was hotter than before. My husband put his hand up to the vent and you could not even feel cool air coming through it. If anything it was worse than before. I had the tech's cell phone from when he had called before, so I attempted to call him. He picked up and hung-up on me. I called back and it went to his voice mail. I told him on the message that the AC was still not working and could he come back out to look at it again, I told him to please call us back ASAP. I did not hear from the company until yesterday, May 29.

I talked to Sylvia who said that she was going to send another technician out for a recall. We set the appointment for 4:00pm on May 30. She said the technician would call me 30 minutes before to make sure I am home. I told her I did not get off work until 4pm, but I work 15 minutes from home so when the tech calls, I can leave work to meet him. At exactly 4pm, I get a call from Sylvia that the tech was already at my house waiting for me.

I advised her that he did not call me 30 minutes ahead and that it would take me 20 minutes to get home. She said she would page the technician and have him wait. I sped as fast as I could home and when I got there, no technician was there. I called Sylvia and advised her of this and she was very rude, saying that he was there at 4pm. I was rude back to her and told her about her 30 minute window she had given me. She said that she would page the technician and call me back. It is now 8:00pm and I have not received a call back or has the technician showed up yet. I am extremely upset with this company and will tell everyone I know NEVER to do business with Rangers Heating.

I even called my bank to stop payment on the two checks I wrote to the company but was told they had already been cashed yesterday, of course!

I filed a complaint with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and found that Rangers Heating & AC (AKA) First Choice Appliance had 29 other complaints against them in the last year. Most complaints were for fraud, bad customer service, poor service and techs not returning calls.
WHY are they still in business!!
