We were looking for a professional painter to paint the exterior of our home. Although not the cheapest, we chose Mr. Dave Nicoletti owner of "A Affordable Painting Inc."
Mr. Nicoletti contacted us and agreed to start work on 10/10/05. The weather forecast was rain & snow. Mr. Nicoletti didn't contact us to reschedule so we began to review other estimates. Mr. Nicoletti called on 10/11/05 stating that he would begin work the following day-10/12/05. When the painters arrived, we noted in person and to Mr. Nicoletti via telephone that we expected a power-wash. We were told that we wouldn't receive this service.
As the painters worked, we informed them to take their time while painting, as we saw no need for them to rush to completion. Their plan was to paint the entire house in 3 days; however, we were on vacation and were not expecting a rush job.
After the 2nd day we observed and made note of a few minor flaws. We did expect paint stains on the lawn and rocks, however we did not expect painted bricks that were turned over in attempt to conceal the mistake. Paint was sloshed on our newly-treated wood around the trees and the gate misalign; it would not close properly as before. We addressed these issues and they attempted to correct them. The last day they departed at an unknown time as we failed to hear the knock on the door or the doorbell ring. But at 3:20PM we noticed that they were gone.
Again, we observed and found paint drippings, sloppy trimmings, open spaces that needed caulking and thin layers of paint. We left a telephone message for Mr. Nicoletti and later sent an email regarding the completed work.
On 10/15/05, their manager, Neil arrived and we discussed our concerns. His attitude towards us was that we were asking for entirely too much. Ex: the dark color paint was not to be splashed on the light section of the home as well as even painting. The customer service and quality of "A Affordable Painting Inc." was less than what we expected from a professional Painting Co.in our ignorance, we expected quality work.
We are not painters but have painted many rooms inside our home and the quality is outstanding in comparison to "A Affordable Painting Inc." We are sure the results would have been better had we painted the exterior ourselves.
Mr. Nicoletti has not answered our concerns as we guess that we are not important and was just "our concerns" = It is our problem.
Surprisingly, "A Affordable Painting, Inc." states it is a member of the BBB as well as the PDCA.
