Jubilee Home Solutions overpromise and overcharge customers ripoff

My name is Robert. Based on referrals from my parents and brother about Jubilee's service, my wife and I chose Jubilee Home Solutions to remodel our shower. It turned out to be an unpleasant experience. We were surprised by the poor management of Jubilee Home Solutions.

On Jan 18, a Salesman (his first name is Gus) from Jubilee Home Solutions came to our house to give us an estimate. One of the selling points that Gus made was all the old tile would be removed as well as the sheet rock. According to him, Jubilee installation crew would remove any mold that had built up due to the water damage. Gus also told us the charge to replace the bathroom fan would be close to $500.

When my wife asked Gus why the price was so high, he said Jubilee would replace our old bathroom fan with a high-quality fan and the replacement process would involve a lot of physical work, such as climbing into the attic to connect the fan with the outside vent. Believing his promise, my wife and I signed the agreement with Jubilee (contract number KCIB17108). According to Gus if there were any problems with the job Jubilee would correct them quickly.

On Feb 12, an installation crew from Jubilee came to our house to remodel the bathroom. Surprisingly, we found out that the installation crew replaced our old bathroom fan with a builder's grade fan that was very cheap and noisy. The whole process of replacing the fan took no more then 10 minutes. The existing fan was already vented to the outside.

They also did not remove all of the tile, as promised by the salesman. When I asked the workers, they said they did not have enough sheet rock to replace all of the old tile and sheet rock. They simple cut out the bottom part, where the water damage was the most noticeable. This is not what the salesman promised us.

There is also a soft spot on the edge of the new shower which was damaged by the old shower leaking. It was not until two days later when I noticed this spot. I realize this would have required additional work on the part of the installers since it would have meant installing a support to the next stud and then putting on the sheet rock. For the prices you charge this work should have been done.

I called Chuck the project manager the day after the installers left and complained about the ceiling fan. His response was it is up to me to run down the salesman and see if we can get him to pay for a better fan to be installed. The second option was to have Jubilee come back and install another builder's grade fan. The third option was let him know what model of fan we wanted and he would bill us for the difference in the cost of the builder's grade fan and the one we wanted plus another installation charge.

I have priced these fans in Home Depot and Lowes and the cost of the fans run from the builder's grade, about 40 dollars to good ones that run about 120 dollars. When I asked Chuck why the price was so high he insisted that we were charged correctly and the price was only 325 dollars. Either way even 325 dollars seems high for 10 minutes work. I know lawyers who have a lower hourly rate.

The next step was my wife called Curt Zibely (sp) on Feb 19 and explained the situation to him. He said he would review the issues and get back with us. That was two weeks ago. My wife called him again today March 13 and aside from being hung up on she got no response from him. She left her name and number but there has been no response.

Some options to correct the situation:
1. A 10% reduction of the total bill.
2. Jubilee to come out and fix the issue with the sheet rock and install a better fan without additional charge.

We felt we were over promised and over charged by Jubilee salesman. We are also surprised to find out the service from Jubilee is so disappointing.
