American World Vanlines - AAA Careful Movers - United States Vanlines broken contract, poor customer service, misrepresentation ripoff

Here is the story of what happened when we tried to use American World Vanlines (A.K. A AAA Careful Movers, American World Vanlines of Texas, All Cities Movers, FC Moving & Storage, R & S Relocation and Storage, Relocation and Storage, Inc., United States Van Lines of Texas). This is the letter we wrote to the company.

We just want to contact your company to let you know what kind of moving experience we had when we decided to use American World Vanlines/AAA Careful Movers.

The website says that your company makes moving "hassle-free." Our experience was quite the opposite and one of the most stress experiences we have encountered. We were moving from Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to Littleton, Colorado.

What was supposed to happen:

Our belongings were supposed to be picked up by American World Vanlines Thursday, December 15 or Friday, December 16 at the lastest. We were to check out of the on-post Army housing and leave Missouri Friday, December 16. We were supposed to arrive in Colorado Sunday, December 18 so that we could check in with the Army Reserve unit and prepare for job interviews with our belongings arriving within 5 days.

What did happen:

No one arrived to pick up our belongings on Thursday or Friday. Few of our calls were answered or returned concerning our move. Thursday, when we were told about the status of "our driver, " we were told he was on the way but stuck in ice in the east. Friday we were told he
would definitely be there that night between 8 and 9 PM or first thing Saturday morning (already way too late). No one arrived and our calls were not answered even though we was told we could talk to someone Saturday morning about the status of "our driver." Around 11:30 AM on Saturday morning we realized no one was coming for our stuff, that is we had no "driver." We called and left messages with people we had talked to at your company and said that we would make other arrangements if we were not called within 1 hour.

After 1 hour we tried making other arrangements. On our way to pick up the moving truck and trailers we received a call not from an American World Vanlines employee but from some other truck driver saying he would be at our home in 4 hours to load up our stuff. We told him not to come because we did not know who he was and because after 5 in the evening was too late.

We would have really appreciated the truth from your company. We feel sure that we were lied to about our driver. We expected to be taked care of and we were left to fend for ourselves.

The only part of the whole ordeal that went smoothly was getting our deposit money back, but that does not make up for the fact that American World Vanlines broke its contract with us, did not communicate the truth of our situation with us, and blatantly lied to us.

Nevertheless, our move was beyond difficult and extremely
stressful. Please care for your future customers better than you did us.
