We ordered a houseful of shutters in March of 05 and were promised delivery by July. We paid half the total as a deposit. Then the delays and apologies started. Paint shop down, hinges back ordered, etc. July and August came and went with more excuses. They promised to discount the amount we still owed them if we persevered until September.
In September some but not all of the shutters arrived, and the frames were wrong.in November they returned with more frames (and still, only some were correct) and installed part of the order. Balance of shutters still back-ordered and no one knew when they would be provided. What they did install was totally unacceptable. Frames were splitting. Mitred corners didn't fit. Some of the shutters were cracked. Poor paint job. NOt at all like the sample they showed us when we first placed the order.
We refused to pay the balance and demanded they take back the shutters they installed and give us our money back. Same story as everyone else: No answers, no return calls, etc. Total rip off.
We have since re-orderd all our shutters from a reputable company. Need suggestions as to what govt agencies to contact to get refunds and to intervene in the bankruptcy, and would like to know what success others have had at getting their money back.
