My husband and I have lived in a trailer all of our marriage. We are finally at a point in our life that we could finally afford our dream home. We looked at several different companies before going to Jim Walter. For the size home that we wanted they beat everyone we talked to in price. We are building a 2308 sq. Ft. Home. Well, I should say we are suppose to be building this home. Our sales rep. Cindy Huffman was great. She did an outstanding job. Called us when see said she would, but she has now quit the company. Even though she no longer works there she is still helping me with the fight to get my house done. We signed our papers July.
Now the horror story begins, we were suppose to have a pre construction appointment the week that Hurricane Katrina devastated or area. We come back to find our trailer missing a roof and a lot of damage to our personal property. We gave it a week or so to give everyone time to get back up and running and called to schedule our preconstruction appointment. We explained that we we're living in a very damaged trailer with two children. Didn't make much sense to fix it or rent a place when we we're suppose to have a house built. They said that Gary Walters would be out the next week to do the appointment.
Well he comes out for the appointment as stated and he never even walks past his truck. Tells me there will be no problem in building my house where I want it. September 12th this all took place and that would be the last time I would see anyone at my house until Oct. 21 2005. They came to pour my footers, I was excited that didn't last long I was told that they could pour my footers until my land was leveled. Now I had all that time to get this done but Gary Walters said I didn't need it done. So as usual nothing gets done again. We get the land leveled and call them back to tell them it is ready. We call again and again. Finally they pour our footers on Nov. 3 2005. They tell us they will be back out that weekend but no one shows as usual. I call everyday and ask what is the newest excuse on why my house is not being worked on. I get some really great answers. My favorite is they will be out there tomorrow and they will be out there next week. When I call and complain that seems to be the only time that I get anything done.
But today takes the cake. I called this morning to see why they have not worked on my house again. I get told by Mike Patterson, who is suppose to be over the construction part of the homes and I have spoke with him numerous times, that my house came to them for constructions just two weeks ago. I told him he was crazy that I had been talking to him longer than two weeks. Well now he tells me that they will be out at my house tomorrow to set my blocks and the framing crew is suppose to come next week. We will see how that goes. I will have to see it to believe it. I will let you all know how it goes.
They should not be selling houses if they can't put people in them. All they do is mess with people's emotions. They have wait for the moment to build house for god knows how long and they are so excited when they sign those papers and they think that in 6 months at the most that they will be in their dream home. Then that all gets crushed when everyday you pull up to nothing done and a thousand excuses on why it is not done.
