Poor Quality & Service Kitchen Cabinets ripoff

I remodeled my entire kitchen and selected the American Woodmark Dominion Bordeaux Cherry line of cabinets. I need to establish that the Lowe's in Santa Clarita where I purchased the product have been extremely helpful and have attempted to correct all of the issues that I encountered with the product. I do not hold Lowe's responsible for American Woodmark's poor craftsmanship and service (though Lowe's should consider dropping the line).

The following is a summary of the nightmare I've encountered with American Woodmark.

1: Delivery - Trucking company (Penske Logistics) contracted by American Woodmark confirms the day and time for delivery. My contractor/installers and I wait from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. No truck, no delivery, no call. Neither Lowe's or I could reach Amercian Woodmark or Penske Logistics because they were closed on Saturday. Called Monday and had to wait three day's for the "paperwork" to get turned back in only to find out that the "temp" driver neglected to make the deliver and that they didn't know why. Re-scheduled for that Friday. Delayed my job 1 week and had to pay my contractor for the lost day $.

2: Damaged Goods / Wrong Goods - I received the goods and when inspected I find 5 cabinets are damaged. Damages include dents and scratches. 2 of the replacement cabinets were the wrong ones. Must obtain replacements cabinets which delay job another 3 weeks.

3: Poor craftsmanship/quality - Received replacement product. During install noticed various quality issues including box construction uneven which caused a domino effect during install which took several hours to correct, misaligned cabinet doors and drawers that won't close properly. A few cabinets had overspray of the satin/gloss finish that could not be corrected.
The crown molding only comes in 8 foot lengths forcing you to have a visible seam on longer runs.

4: Poor customer service - Due to the fact there were so many issues I had to order stain from American Woodmark. Lowe's very helpful sales rep called American Woodmark while I was standing right in front of him to confirm if the stain was a 1 or 2 part system. The American Woodmark customer service person stated that it was a 1 part system so I place the order. The stain arrives and my contractor opens the package to begin the work only to find it's a two part system which is far more complicated and time consuming. My contractor passes on the task and asks that I hire a pro; another waste of time and money.

5: They don't care - The Lowe's rep felt so bad that he had the regional sales manager call me. I spent 10 minutes explaining all of my issues with the product only to get a "thank you for bringing this to our attention" "I'll make some recommendations to my immediate supervisor". No apology, no offer to make good on anything.in fact it was clear by her demeanor that she simply did not care.

In closing I would caution any consumer looking to purchase kitchen cabinets to stay clear from American Woodmark. The amount of money you save on the up front costs will not be worth it in the long run. You will pay dearly not only in extra costs trying to fix the junk during install but your own time as well dealing with all of their mistakes.
