Nationwide Pool Inc. Keith Stuart
Fail GC Contracto

Just a note to anyone looking to have a pool built by Nationwide Pools. About 2 months ago I finished up a arbitration process through the BBB against Nationwide Pools in regards to the construction of my swimming pool and their failure to ensure the Florida Building Codes were followed which left us with a pool we have not been able to use for almost 18 months now due to its being unsafe to swim in. We currently have 2 issues with the construction, 1 our uro-tile pool deck began cracking within a few weeks of them completing construction and within 2 months inside tile to our pile actually began falling and exploding off the inside perimeter of the pool. We ended up going through the BBB process (which I dont really recommend either, the arbitrator we had knew nothing about construction or the requirements a GC is supposed to follow even though they were put in front of thier face to read). After almost 18 months of lies and and the replacement of the inside water tile twice we were awarded portion of the total cost of building the pool because the arbitrator couldnt determine whether they were responsible or not, just we deserved to enjoy the use of our pool and can't.

What it all boiled down to is I found out through his and his attorneys testimony under oath is that Keith Stuart's normal construction process does not include verifying the swimming pool meets some of the most critical aspects of any pool construction. The first and most important being to ensure that the compaction surrounding the pool shell or under a concrete deck meets the required Florida Building Codes as required under Section 18 (compaction requirements and proper joint placement in the deck). They also failed to properly build up the bond beam so as to ensure that the deck did not effect the inside tile around the pool. There were many other issues found by a Profession Engineer that I hired that contributed to the issues I had but The fact that they did not perform this critical part of the project (a $225 dollar test could have verified it) and the fact that my pool was not attached to the house which would require Nationwide to show the building inspector the proper documentation I now have to spend almost $10,0000 to repair everything. If you are thinking about using Naitionwide, make sure you ensure they build it properly and if you spend allot of money before they get the final inspection from the building department, get a profession inspector to look it over first. If I would have done that I could have had the building inspectors fail the pool and get it all corrected beforehand.
