When i bought my printer, i did a lot more printing that i do now. Now the cartridges run out of ink in no time at all. The time they last is totally unheard of. I am looking at new printers to replace this perfectly good printer, but will not consider a hewlet packard again due to the short time that ink lasts. You can buy a new computer an use the ink that comes with it, and then throw it away and buy another one for the price that a set of 3 colors and one black ink costs. They should be called disposable printers. The xl is a joke also; does not last that much longer. It is a scam...
