I booked a mid-size car online at 2PM on 11/9 and scheduled pick-up for 6PM on 11/9 from Hertz in Woburn, MA. I arrived to pick up the rental at 5:55PM on 11/9 and was told that they had sold out of cars. They gave me the card for a Taxi service and said there was nothing they could do for me. I promptly began to look for alternate transportation but there were no cars, trains or other means available as everything was in the process of closing and the next train wasn't scheduled until the following day. I ended up paying a car service $390 for a one way trip and then another $137 to rent a car from Enterprise to come back one way from my destination in CT.
