I am a frequent traveler and rent a car on average of twice per month. That being said...
Having read on the inside of the windshield that there would be a daily charge against the time of the Hertz rental to use their toll reader just one time, I opted to pay the $1. Toll cash. This was the only toll I encountered on a trip to FL.
One month later, I am fighting a $9.25 charge from platepass.
I have watched the decrease in Hertz customer service and severe increase in the age of the vehicle fleet. On the particular rental mentioned here, I made the agent change the car before I would sign the contract as the one they attempted to give me had almost 30,000 miles! I also mentioned 3-times my frequent flier affiliation to earn miles, and ultimately realized that was never entered at the counter. With a few extra minutes at the end of the rental, a clerk on another complaint call entered my skymiles number.
Hertz charges premium prices amongst their competitors. I certainly do not expect to rent-a-wreck treatment.
Hertz is not the flagship it once was.
