Deceptive advertisement and exaggerated car pricing

Crab tree has been running an ad that claims that they have a major car sales where a consumer can purchase a car and report the miles on a yearly basis. After which one would own the car after four years. They claimed that they had monthly payments as low as $37. The ad conveyed that this was some special program that allowed a consumer to get the car cheaper.

Upon visiting the car dealer one will find that the ad is very deceptive. No one mentions to you about the so called reporting miles idea. The first salesman I approached on my first visit and I told that I want my monthly payments to be low, between the ranges of $150 - $200, told me that that was very hard. He implied that unless I wanted 'a piece of crap', a payment for $150 would be almost impossible. Then they also claim that they will give you five thousand dollars for your trade in regardless of the conditions of the car. The first car I looked at was a used 2004 Mitsibishi Lancer. His initial offer was over $18,000 a payment of $292 monthly and a 72 month term, and then he claims that if I traded my car in the $5000 will be applied than my balance will then be over $13,000. So they would take my 99 Honda civic, that has a book value of $3500, and still sell me a car for over $13,000, over two thousand dollars than what the car is actually worth.

So apart from trying to sell me a car for more than its worth they will also take my car from me. Then I am assuming that they will in turn try to sell my car for a lot more than what it's worth and the chain of dishonesty continues.

I went there a second time to see another salesman that I had met on my previous visit, that told me that the first salesperson was trying to rip me off, and claiming that he will give me a good deal. When i went that particular salesperson was not there so I met with another person. The salesman told me that me that that day they had a big sale of 25% off MSRP. I was interested in a used 2002 Nissan Altima. When the sakesman went to the manager for a price quote, he came back with a price of approximately $21,500 and said that after the 25% the price would be approximately $16,500.

The fact is, the book value on that car is approximately $14,500. So even after his claim of taking off 25 percent, the price is still approximately $2000 more expensive than book value. When I expressed my displeasure to the manager about the prices and the way he does business I was told that he can sell his cars for whatever he wants.

Whatever happented to the ad that allows you to own the car in four years at a low monthly payment. Whatever happened to the program where I reported my miles. Nothing was ever mentioned about that and apart from that they are aiming at selling the cars at ridiculous prices. I would definitely encourage everyone from staying far from that that car dealer because thay are just geared at making a lot of money. And their trade in deal is definitely a ripoff. Who would give you $5000 for a broken down car which they claim that they do? Crab tree is lacking integrity and ethical business standards based on the way they conducted business with me.
