Texas Truck Sales BUYERS BEWARE!

Contacted Salesman Rick from the Texas Truck Sales Dallas dealership in regards to the purchase of a Semi Truck. He got me approved on financing and wanted $5500 down. He pushed several times for down payment and he didn't even know which truck he was going to sell me, nor had I been there in person to see ANY vehicles.in the end, I gave a $500 down payment to get things moving.

After being told which truck I could purchase, (2005 Volvo 670) we agreed that I would arrive in Dallas on Friday 06/29 to take possession of truck and complete paperwork. Meanwhile, the truck was at the Houston dealership and would be transported to Dallas dealership on 6/29.

Before making my trip from Shreveport La to Dallas Tx, I called to confirm with Rick in Dallas that I was on my way and that truck would be on its way from Houston. He said everything was a go!

Once arriving at Texas Truck Sales in Dallas Tx, Rick wanted to take care of the paperwork and get the balance of down payment in the amount of $5,000. After sitting down with finance manager, I got right back up and requested to see the truck BEFORE going any further. Rick had informed me that the truck was not there nor was it even on its way. He could not provide me with a reason why. We agreed that I would drive to Houston Monday morning 7/2 and to speak with the sales manager in Houston (Hernan Nejus) and all would be good. Needless to say, no paperwork was signed and I headed back to Shreveport and I'm out $120 in gas.

I had also asked Rick if there was any kind of warranty, perhaps a 30 day. He told me there was.

I arrived in Houston in 7/2 and spoke with the Houston Sales Manager Hernan Nejus about what had happened in Dallas and that I was there to take delivery of a truck. He was clueless that the truck I was coming for was supposed to be ready but at least he was able to point me to it so I could physically inspect it.

Upon inspection, I found a few cosmetic things that I asked to be fixed.in particular, the left front headlight was loose. I'd taken note of this and added it to the list that we later agreed upon that it would be tightened. On that list, we also agreed upon having some parameters changed within the computer. I also asked that interior be cleaned. After discussing all this, I sat with finance manager and we completed the sale of the truck including paperwork and the balance of down payment.

I had asked again about this 30 day warranty and was told that no such warranty exists. Truck is purchased "as is". I explained that Rick had told me this and their response again is that no such warranty exists and Rick will be warned or reprimanded for all the trouble he'd caused me so far.

I could not take delivery of truck on this day due to them having to inspect truck. And was very angry that I'd lost $120 and time going to Dallas and back and another $140 in gas and more time driving to Houston and back. They agreed to deliver truck to my town on Thursday 7/5. I called Hernan to confirm Thursday morning that truck was on its way and was told no, it would be delivered the following day and was not provided with a reason why.

Friday 7/6 the big day! The driver called me up first thing to confirm he was on his way and I would meet him at 9am. After meeting with him, I inspected truck again. Headlight was still loose.interior was still dirty. Computer parameters had never been changed. We made note of this and I took driver to bus stop.

Monday 7/16 I was scheduled to make my first run! I ran 7/16 from Baton Rouge La to Houston Tx and back. On 7/17 I ran from Baton Rouge La to Houston, unloaded and reloaded in Houston on 7/17 headed to Carlsbad NM. On the way to NM, I pulled over in San Antonio and realized oil was coming INSIDE the truck around the doghouse/floor area. I opened hood and the motor was covered in oil. Valve cover Gasket was only visible sign of leakage and oil level was very low.

Rather than chance driving anymore to get oil, I spent the night on highway and I had it towed to mechanic the next morning ($400) The mechanic said valve cover gasket leaking, rear cam caps leaking, front engine cover leaking and would cost around $4,000 to repair. Mechanic topped off with oil and I continued to Carlsbad NM to unload.

Unloaded in NM and decided NOT to catch a load out of there in case any more problems arose and to dead head back to the dealership. This cost $650 in diesel out of MY pocket. Once arriving in Houston at Texas Truck Sales, Hernan the sales manager and the owner were standing outside and the owner had Hernan handle the situation about to arise.

I got out of truck, opened hood and showed him all the visible leaks, and the oil STILL on the floor inside the truck. His response, "Its an older truck, what do you expect? Its just leaking from the valve cover gasket and the wind blows the oil to the back of motor and its leaking inside the truck." I told him its more than just that and to get it fixed. Hernan said "We don't do that work here" and asked if I had a mechanic. I told him I do have a mechanic but this is where I'm leaving the truck and y'all are going to take care of it.

Hernan stormed off mad and told me I cannot leave truck here and I said "watch me" and proceeded to gather my belongings and toss them outside the truck. Then the owner approached me and I explained everything going on with the truck. He offered to pay $500 toward repairs and to pro rate the parts and then sent me off to his recommended mechanic. I left the truck at mechanic shop and headed to the bus station to catch a ride back to Shreveport ($70)

After several days, I called shop and was told I was looking at over $20,000.00 for an overhaul. I called the bank and explained what was going on, considering I hadn't made a single payment yet. They requested an invoice on parts and labor. I had mechanic send invoice to Texas Truck Sales and to Mission Financial Services for a grand total of $16,159.00.

I called Texas Truck sales several times and left messages with girl at front desk for Hernan or the owner to call me back and sent an email too. Nobody returned my calls/email. I called the mechanic back and he told me that Texas Truck Sales is coming to pick up the truck and bring to a different mechanic. I did not authorize any of this and nobody contacted me to do so.

8/8 Mission Financial Services contacted me and told me that my truck had been repaired and that the owner had purchased a 1 year warranty on motor and transmission out of his pocket for the amount of $1800.00 and that they had made me aware of this and that truck had been ready for pick up. I told the bank that Texas Truck Sales had not made me aware of any of this. I called Hernan and FINALLY got him on the phone. He said that the truck was repaired and that he would double check. I went down there in person the next day and met with Hernan. We signed off on this warranty that does not kick in for 30 days AND 1500 miles but was reassured the truck IS repaired and will make it 30 days. It was early in the morning and the owner had not arrived yet but I asked for paperwork on what had been done. He said it will be faxed to me because he does not have access to it.

I inspected truck and it had been cleaned very well. Now in the beginning, upon my very FIRST inspection, the motor was immaculate. Power-washed, acid, parts spraypainted... No way of telling anything was leaking. While I'm inspecting again, same scenario... All the oil cleaned up, motor "looking" brand new again. Oil cleaned up from inside the truck as well. Once again, reassured by Hernan that the truck was indeed "repaired and is good to go."

Drove truck to truck stop, fueled up and drove to Shreveport to MY mechanic. Upon arrival, opened hood, valve cover gasket still leaking, rear cam caps still leaking, still high pressure in the motor due to an overhaul needed. Nothing had been repaired. Texas Truck Sales has gotten me again! They cleaned it up and made it look pretty. Purchased a $1800.00 warranty rather than having the mechanic fix truck, which makes sense. $1800 as opposed to $16,000.

My mechanic has went through the truck and is replacing rear cam cap seals, valve cover gasket, the #4 injector is out, causing my loss in horsepower and a few other seals. Out of pocket for $2500.00 and this will get me going until warranty kicks in and I can use it to get a complete overhaul. Not to mention all the money I've lost not being able to run this truck and provide for my family. I'm beyond broke now! And have STILL not made first payment on truck... Luckily the bank has given me an extra 2 weeks to try and get it back up and running and making money.

I've called Hernan and left messages with receptionist to complain about this and have yet to hear from him.
