Sears Auto Center
Disgusting customer service tactics from a well known store

I went to sears in February to get over priced and brake job done... My bill was 279.78 and to be honest I didn't feel much of a difference in my cars performance, but because the service man told me they are still making noise because they are new and that other areas in my car need work that was the reason why.

This brings me to September 12. I thought I would take advantage of my "18 month warranty" So I brought my car to another site in Manchester with my 2 and 3 year old mind you for my brakes to be done. I called before I went to Manchester because I was turned away at the original site that did my initial brake service to day before... (10:20 am) Any way the person I spoke to on the phone told me they usually take appointments and I would have to leave my car for the day or make an appointment for Monday. I decided to bring it in because I don't feel it's safe to continue to drive my children in the car with the brake problem the car has. (11:15 am) When I arrived I was greeted nice but as soon as I said I have a warranty the tone quickly changed.

I was told they can't do it today and that we can make an appointment for tomorrow morning I then explained I have to work and that I called before I came down and after arguing for 2 minutes they decided to take my information. I was told that there are two cars ahead of me and it will be a while I then asked what time does the shop close and the gentleman told me 5pm. I then asked for the same service man to call me a cab. I waited almost 3 hours for a cab with my children and when I went inside to ask them to recall for me "Melvin" fast talked me and I pointed to where the phone book was then he put the phone book on the opposite side of the desk for me to call. (2:30 ish) A 20 minutes later my cab finally came and my car was still was not serviced.

(4:30) I called the shop to see if my car was ready they placed me on hold to check and another man got back to me and said my car is up next. I then said up next don't you close at 5:00" The man said no 7pm. At 6:40 I called the same cab company that picked me up at Sears and they told me it would be a 20-25 min wait. I then got my children ready and at 6:50 I didn't here anything from Sears so I decided to call again and a service man answered the phone I explained who I was and asked if my car was ready I was placed on hold for 7 minutes they disconnected. I pressed redial on my phone and the same guy yelled "Wha" I said this is Colisha Paul is my car ready he said "oh you must have the wrong number and hung up the phone again.

I continued to call until my cab came. I was hoping that they didn't do anything to my car and that they left it parked so I could go to work the next morning. When I arrived at Sears my car was not in the parking lot. (8:13am) The next morning I had to call my job of two weeks and explained that I have no transportation and that I would get there as soon as I could... I then called Sears and asked to speak to a Manager and I then spoke to the Assistant Manager Tony. He wasn't very sympathetic and he repeated to say I wasn't here yesterday. I told him I just started my job and how crucial it was for me to be there on time and how I was hung up on the day before and how they kept my car over night with out consent. He told me he apologizes and he will call me back. I told him I'm waiting for yet another cab and I didn't want them to do anything if haven't already so I should be there shortly. (9:02 am)

I arrived and I saw my car up in the air, I walked in and asked to speak with Tony. He first went out to my car and I followed he asked me to come towards the car to have a mechanic service person tell me my brake pads look fine I told them it's clear something with the brakes is wrong I'm not stopping when I press down and they could try something but it's not in the warranty. I said forget it please put my wheels and car back together so I can go to work. After 15 minutes my car was "ready". My brakes are still not fixed if my driving speed is over 55 my car is now shaking, I spent $37.25 on cabs 2 hours from work which could jeopardize my job and aggravation...

I plan to report them to the Better Business Bureau but from previous experience I'm sure it won't do much good... Oh by the way the Assistant Manager "was nice enough" to not charge me the 15.00 Brake Evaluation Fee - HA!
