1999 GMC Yukon - drivetrain

I have a 1999 GMC Yukon that I purchased in 2006 with 72,000 miles. It currently has 231,000 on original motor. I had to have the transmission rebuilt at 180,000 but as far as major repairs thats about it. I did have the water pump switched out at 120k. The only problem I have with the truck currently is my rear end is going and with parts no longer being made I have no choice but to put a used rear end in it. FYI I was told at 140,000 that my rear end was on its last leg and could go very soon. That was two years and 90,000 miles later, its still hangin in there. Clunking a little more but still chugging along. The truck has been a great running, very comfortable and reliable truck.

I would love to get a newer one but with the economy the way it is and myself being the only one in the household working makes it tough to get a new truck. My wife and kids come first. I'm just really pleased that this truck has been as good as its been, as a matter of fact. My brother saw how comfortable and nice my truck is (even with 230k) he went and purchased a 2004 Tahoe and absolutly LOVES IT!!! If your looking for a good reliable truck the Yukon/Tahoe is a fantastic truck with many pleasing accessories and values that is hard for anyone to ignore.

I can't wait till I can afford to buy a new Tahoe / Yukon. Even if I have to buy one with 100k, no problem. I know how long they will last.
