I have been a long time customer of Enterprise Rent a Car for 10 years. I've never had an issue renting a vehicle from this company and for the most part have had a pleasant experience.
I was given an opportunity by a big name company to receive frre parts for my current vehicle as long as I allowed them to use my 2012 for Research and Developement.in the process they would offer me a rental while they completed work.
We arrived at the local Enterprise, the staff was helpful and attended to my needs. I was given a Fiat 500 in black which I agreed to after they had initially offered me a gas guzzler Chevy HHR. Anyways, the representative starts talking about he drives this car home every once in a while and how it drives nicelt. This should have been my first clue that I should not have taken this car. He goes around the car looking for damage (or acting) and asks if I have insurance. I say yes, and I tell him I am not going to need their extra coverage. I hear him say "o.K. We can just collect your deductable". This should have been my second clue, but being that I have never had issues renting and returning I brushed it off. He gives me the clipboard and I notice that he had already makred "no damage", I start walking around the car and point out a dent on the passenger side door, and scratches all around the vehicle. He tells me "dont worry about those". This should have been my final clue.
I drive the vehicle for 2 days, and finally get the call to pick up my car from the company doing R&D. I pick up my car but still have the rental. The person at the R&D facility tells he will return the vehicle (they are being billed for the vehicle). I call Enterprise to see if this is o.K. With them, they tell me it's "no problem, they always do it like that".
Today I receive a letter stating that there was damage to the vehicle and I should contact them or my insurance company to settle the bill. It is after hours, so I cannot contact them, but I suspect they will charge me for that dent.
I am so upset right now, they have just lost a long time customer. The worst part is I blame myself for not marking down the obvious and trusting the "salesman" (remind me of new car dealerships) at eneterprise. I will be spreading the word through my insurance company and my fellow military members not to rent from this company.
I will update once I call in the morning to find out what exactly this "loss" is.
