On Tuesday June 19th I I was in Houston for a business trip. My wife accompanied me and we dined at your Little Sitos location on 2536 Richmond. Upon arriving the parking lot was full. We drove around it several times looking for a spot. (Noticing a bus parked across 6 spots in the back) There was a woman in your lot, a security guard I suppose. We made several rounds through your lot and she acknowledged me each time. Finally we settled for a spot in an adjacent strip mall. The same security guard acknowledged me and my wife again as we walked from our car towards your restaurant.
We went in and enjoyed our meal, paid the check and left.
When we returned to the parking lot my car was gone. Several other customers also were without their cars too.
A guy walked by and said they just towed off a tan Corolla with Louisiana plates. (mine) While I was talking to him a tow truck showed up and towed off another. I asked the tow truck driver what the reason and was handed a Jet Towing business card and directed to a small sign on a hurricane fence with the number to call to get my car back. The woman from your security kept coming over looking at vehicles in the lot and leaving. She also continued to look through the fence further down the lot. As to be taking inventory for the tow company? My wife confronted her as to the reason she kept coming over here when she was supposed to be working your lot? To which she replied I was just looking, (or something to that manner) If she is hired to secure your lot then she didnt seem too concerned of your customers interests. The same guy that told me about my car being towed drove up in a black Chevy truck and offered to take several of us to the impound lot.
My wife and I along with another gentleman from Baltimore hopped in and thanked him for helping us out.
When we arrived at the lot, the company (Ronda Lane Auto Storage) refused a credit card. Cash or debit ONLY.
Unfortunately we did not have the $218.00 in cash and do not own a debit card. Now we are really in a situation. No cash, no car and 250 miles from home. The same guy that brought us to the lot offered to take us to an ATM.
I have only taken cash from my credit card once prior and could not recall the pin. Needless to say I could not get any money from my card. Fortunately the gentleman from Baltimore allowed us to write him a check to cover a cash withdrawal from his card.
As we made it back to the lot, my wife became extremely ill and began to vomit along the curb.
(1 Margaritas? Carsick? Extremely stressful situation? Combination of all three? More than likely)
As I paid for the outrageous $218.00 to get my car back it began to rain. Can it get any worse? What was supposed to be an enjoyable evening out with my wife has become the business trip from hell! A company with the reputation such as Papas should not tolerate nor allow their customers to be treated in this manner. Thus become victims of predatory tow companies aided by someone in your hire. Granted we did see the sign on the fence after the fact, I feel as your parking lot attendant was in cahoots with the tow company and everyone parking in that lot vehicles were targeted. Otherwise how in the world would a tow company drive right on up and know which specific vehicles to target?
