Great Lakes Warranty Corp refused to pay for legitimate claim repairs covered in their written contract. They claimed proper procedure was not followed initially.
After it was verified (by their own employees and their written contract) that this was not the case, they thought they would offer less. And Walt (claims supervisor?) gave a take it or leave it offer with the words "If you don't take it we'll drag it out for a long period of time in court." They didn't even supply a recycled engine as they were supposed to do. A perfect example of a big company trying to use their muscle and money to not pay when they know a consumer lacks funds to fight them.
I have letters of the correspondence between the company and me which I will gladly fax to anyone interested in more details. I am doing this on behalf of my daughter and son-in-law. I have been affiliated with the auto industry for over 18 years and have dealt with many extended service contract companies. I have never had a company so arrogant about breaking their own contract and knowing it.
There will be a lawsuit filed in time so if anyone else has had problems please contact me and together we can at least cause this company to play by the rules or leave the industry for the legitimate companies with integrity.
Since the initial claim, there have been other problems (covered items per the contract). Mr Ewart (attorney for Great Lakes) flat refused to do anything at all. Yet, he didn't say the contract was canceled.
