Paul Burns auto group... Rip off / scam artist lots

I recently bought a big super duty Ford Truck with very low miles on it. At the end of the purchase the vehicle cost me $25,000 after my $2,300 trade. Three (3) days after i bought the vehicle I tried to use my heat and it came out ice cold, keep in mind I have a leather interior and it was in the thirties.

After driving the vehicle for almost an hour in the cold, I stopped at a traffic light and the trucks rpms started jumping around to almost 3,000 rpms. My truck wanted to take off on its own. I called my sales man whos name I will not mention and he told me to bring it in and they would take it to one of their mechanics down the road. I did just that. I picked my truck back up later that day and I was told that the coolant level was low and thats why I didnt have heat and the rpms jumped around.

Less than 1 week later I lost my heat again and the rpms jumping was never resolved. I took the truck back again and the mechanic then flushed the entired coolant system what he said was six (6) times. He also said that he could not doagnose the rpm issues because it was intermittent and not constant.

I picked up the vehicle again and and I had heat for another week, and it went out once more. I purchase a thermostat, removed the old one and installed the new one myself. This did not do a thing. I Called the lot up and spoke with on of the managers and he told me to bring it back and they would take care of it. I dropped the truck off once more but this time at the car lot. They ended dropping the truck off at the mechanics and he flushed the coolant system one more time and converted it from the orange dexcool coolant to the normal green stuff.

As usual I picked my truck up again but 2 days later this time. I drove it around for a few days and the heat seemed to be fine but i noticed that i kept having to put coolant in every 2-3 days before i knew it had had ended up putting in 3 gallons of coolant in over a course of 9 days. I also noticed that bome white smoke was starting to pour out of my exhaust as i was driving and when i came to a stop it got worse and literally filled the entire intersection with blinding amounts of white smoke. My truck then began to buck and power surge. I pulled over into 7-11 parking lot and called for a tow.

The truck was towed and it was diagnosed as a crack in the egr cooler which was a $1200 job. My warranty was 90 day 50-50 parts and labor. I payed my $600 not including the $175 tow bill. I rented a vehicle for the week my truck was in the shop. Less than a week after this repair was done it was back in the shop for no heat again. The coolant was flushed one more time. Three more days after this was done i lost the heat again and a new thermostat was installed as well as a heater core. This seemed to fix the heat issue, but i was told that when the system was fluched they seemed to have flushed out some coolant system repair sealer, which i know i did not use especially when i have warranty.

While all of this coolant system work was done the rpm issue was never resolved. The truck was in and out of the shop again of the course of another 2 weeks and was diagnosed as an icp module issue. At least thats what the mechanic told he thought it was according to his conversation with a ford diesel tech. The codes that were in the truck computer that triggered my check engine light were for an icp sensor which i personally bought and installed at my very own cost. This seemed to be the fix, which lasted only a week. Finally i went to another reputable diesel shop and his diagnosis was very different.

This diagnosis was that the oil pump was know to deteriorate and the metal shaving were then pumped through the oil system and clogged the screen on the oil regulator which cause it not to get the right oil pressure and then told the icp module to tell the computer to shut down and fire up some of the cylinders and then set the icp codes for the check engine light. I asked this mechanic for a fiuch ball park cost of the repair and he told me that it would be in the ball park of $2,200 give or take a coulpe hundred but most likely i would be the giver.

I have had several conversation with the manager of Burns auto and his answer to me was well then get it fixed and let it be the end of it. He then called a buddy of his about this oil pump issue and then also told me that they dont think this is the issue and maybe i should figure out whats wrong with it and be done with it. I finally had enough and told him to get me out of the vehicle that i am done with it and his lot. To my astonishment he asked me if i wanted to trade it, and asked me how much money would i have to put down on the trade and that they could not give me back what i owed and that they would have to also deduct the repair costs. I flipped.

May i also mention that this truck came with a factory class 3 towing package that was half damaged and half missing and i repaired and replaced at my own cost also.
