Back on 2-13, we took our Mazda 626 to Meineke in Morristown. We drove 22 miles one way because we thought Meineke was a company we could trust. Meineke was supposed to replace our struts. When we went back to pick up our car, we noticed the car was still making a popping noise on the passenger side tire. After arriving home we contacted Meineke again. We was told to bring the car back down there on the next day.
The next day we went back to Meineke to see why our tire was making the popping noise. They came out and test drove it again. He said that he would have to put the car back on the racks to see what was going on with it. After a few minutes up on the racks, the employee told us that the axle was out on our car. Meineke said they could replace the axle for a hundred and some dollars. We told them the axle had already been replace a year prior and we had to contact the dealership who had replaced the axle.
We called East Tn Nissan the next day. Luckily for us the axle was still under warranty. We took our car back to Morristown thinking the axle was bad and they were going to replace it. When East TN Nissan put our car up on the racks to see what was going on with axle, our passenger side wheel fell down. They contacted us to say our strut had been welded in. We were furious. We had paid 304 dollars for Meineke to replace the struts on our car and they welded them in.
The owner of Meineke was called and he admitted he had told the man to weld in the strut because he could not get the bolt on. The strut had came in to the shop bad. He also said they had trouble getting my old strut out so they had to cut my axle boot. We had to pay 19.99 for that also. Meineke took my car back to their shop to fix my strut again. When we went to pick up our car again on the next day, we told the man we was furious with him and his shop. We told him that he had risked our lives and our children's lives. We told him he owed us for gas money and for the axle boot that he had cut and then charged us for. He did give us 40 dollars back.
Anyway, now 4 months later our car is once again making a popping noise on the passenger side tire. When we contacted the same Meineke who had done the work, we was told that we are not welcome in their shop. (Which we didnt want them to do the work on our car again) We wanted to know if another Meineke could do the warranty work. We had 90 days on labor and lifetime on parts. The owner said she didnt care about our warranty, we was not allowed back on their property.
We took our car to another shop in our local area. We was told once again that our strut on the passenger side tire is bad. It will have to be replaced again. We have contaced Meineke several times by phone and email and we always get the same answer. They say Meineke's are franchised out and they are owned by private owners. Needless to say, we got ripped off. If we don't go to another Meineke (the closet one is 34 miles) then our warranty is no longer any good. What a rip off!!!
