While in for a routine oil change, the technicians at Jiffy Lube broke the oil pan on my immaculate 1994 Jaguar XJ6. They told me they needed to replace the drain plug and sent someone out to buy one. What he actually bought was J-weld which was used to try to repair my oil pan from the bottom. Obviously this solution wasn't going to work, but they did it anyway and sent me away without telling me.
Two days later I went to a second Jiffy Lube to have the transmission fluid changed. The manager informed me someone had tried to repair my oil pan, that the car was leaking oil and they drain plug was not new. I was shocked. I was sure there was no oil spots on my brand new driveway and went home immediately, only to find two small spots. I called the manager at the first Jiffy Lube and he confirmed his staff had lied to me and asked me to bring the car over. As I pulled out of my driveway, all of the oil came out of my car all over my new driveway.
I called the manager back and told him the car was inoperable. At first he said the car would be properly repaired to my satisfaction, but after talking to his area manager, they decided the car should be repaired at a local shop (and they would not pay for all of the labor) using a used pan. I spoke to the best mechanic in the area and he said it was a ten hour job and needed to be done at the dealer. He also said I needed a new pan because a used one may not seal properly and there would be no guarantee on a used part. Jaguar confirmed this and quoted the price.
I contacted the corporate office of Jiffy Lube and have heard nothing back. I believe they are giving me the "woman" treatment by bullying me and treating me like I'm stupid.
In February ABC's Primetime did an expose on the rip-off schemes of Jiffy Lube and featured 3 former employees who discussed their practices of charging for services they don't actually complete and other rip-offs.
This entire matter is an outrageous inconvenience and should have been remedied by now. I need all the help I can get to get this problem taken care of. Thank you for listening.
