Rick McHone, Service Manager Reversed Hydraulic hoses on leveling jacks and refused to accept responsibility for doing so. Cost:$197 Internet

InT March of 05 I purchased a used 99 Southwind Class A Motor Home from Bill Plemmons. Since then I have had it exclusively serviced at Bill Plemmons.in March of I took it in for service. I asked them to check the right front leveling jack because it was not completely retracting. This service was done, and I was told they added hydraulic fluid to the reservoir. We did not used the unit again until June, but while on a trip to S.C. We discovered the jacks did not deploy correctly and I had to level the unit manually. I informed Bill Plemmons service agent, Russ (who has been very helpful in the past) of the problem.

On Monday of this week, I called Russ and asked if they could work on the Jacks. He said they were booked up for a minimum of two weeks. So, for the first time in over six years, I took the unit to Camping World in Statesville for service. I was surprised at the results. They did not have to recalibrate the electronics on the leveling jacks. All they had to do was to switch the hydraulic Jacks to to the right front and right rear leveling jacks. Cost of the diagnosis and fix was $197.00. It was obvious to me, since all the service to this point had been done by Bill Plemmons, and the trip to the shop prior to this, Bill Plemmons worked on the Jacks that the problem was caused by the service dept at Bill Plemmons. When I called and talked to Rick McHone, the service manager, he denied any responsibility for the expense and told me I know nothing about hydraulics. I know enough about hydraulics to know that with these jacks in the up position, it is very probable the service technician disconnected the hoses to get into the tight space where the reservoir is located and then did not reconnect them to the correct positions. My call to the general manager resulted in a referral to Steve Plemmons, the owner who has yet to return my calls. I have filed a BBB Report, and plan to Sue if they do not resolve this by refunding me $197.00 for a charge they created.
