I went on-line to get airline tickets & a rental car for my parents. Dollar Rent A Car seemed like the best bet. My parents just wanted a car to get around in, nothing fancy. So, I rented an economy car for 13days, It was going to be $262.83 including taxes & license fee & apt recov fee.
When they got to the airport & went to the rental counter the salesperson said the car they chose was a standard & had no air conditioning! Surpising nothing was mentioned on the internet! So my mother upgraded a level & it was going to be $9 more a day. She was asked if she would like all these other options & she declined & had to initial a bunch of different areas. My mother assumed she would be paying the original $262.83 $9 aday x13 = 117 she pre payed a full tank of gas for $24.64 for a total of $404.47.
When they returned the car, they told her she was all set & she was on her way. A day after she returned home she looked at the bill & it was $1027.27! They went ahead & charge her for all the extras after she said she didn't want them!
My parents are Senior Citizens and it is hard for them to see small print & not hear very well. My mother is so upset and feels like she was taken advantage of & her rights have been violated. I wonder how many other Senior Citizens this has happened to. Thank you for listening.
