I totaled my 2006 Impala LTZ on March 21. My car insurance paid off over $9000 leaving me with a little over $1000 which I thought my Gap coverage would take care of. American Heritage Insurance Services Asked me to send them 7 different documents which I did right away. Starting April 14th they continuously sent me confirmation emails stating they received all the documentation neccessary to process the claim. On May 16th I received a message that they didnt receive a document they needed even though they had already confirmed receiving everything. I faxed the information again. It is almost impossible to get a hold of anyone or to get any sort of answers. Last week I finally got through to someone and was told that they will not be paying off my total that is still owed because in 2010 I was diagnosed with Breat Cancer and had to defer my payments for 4 months. My payments did not go delinquint ever! I had to apply for the deferment and no where in the Gap Contract does it specifically state that if you defer you payments they will not cover the amount owed. The lady said she was so sorry to hear about my illness but basically to bad so sad! I am very upset with myself that I have purchased American Heritage Gap Insurance for every car that I own right now. I would have never wasted the money if I had known that they never pay out. I will never ever buy Gap Insurance again especially from American Heritage. I am just amazed that due to a serious health condition they wouldn't pay.
