I was interested in a Chevy Blazer, so in September, I went to BILL HEARD Chevrolet just to look. Unfortunately I was by myself, so I let the folks there tell me how to shop. As soon as I pulled into the dealership, someone told me that I could not park there and I could only valet, so I had to hand over my keys right away. I told them that I was just looking, not buying, and they said that was fine.
After they drove my car away somewhere I began to look around for the Blazers on the lot. A salesperson approached me to talk about me buying a car. I told him that I was just looking and that I didn't think I could qualify anyway for financing. He jumped on this comment, which I shouldn't have felt the need to have an excuse not to buy that day, but you live and learn. Anyway, he said that my credit does not matter and that everyone qualifies and that I could have any car I want. I got excited, so I told him that I wanted a Blazer.
We drove a used one and a new one, then another one, all the while talking about how I could have it and it was so easy, just by trading in my car. He pretending to be my friend and gave me lots of self esteem compliments about anything to seduce me. I told him that I wanted it but that I didn't have time to buy today because I had to work in a couple hours. I said I might come back another time.
He asked me if I would let him run my credit and appraise my car very quickly before I left. I said no, that I had to go to work, but he pleaded so nicely and since we had become "friends" I said ok as long as I could leave in no longer than 20 minutes. He said that was plenty of time.
He came back saying that he could get me $2700 for my car and I could drive home my Blazer today to go to work. I was excited again so I asked how long that would take and they told me the entire process would be done in plenty of time for me to get to work by 6pm. I said that I didn't have my title anyway I had to leave and I would just come back another time. He said they don't need my title and that my other car was in bad condition so I should just buy now. I reluctantly said ok, as long as it was fast.
I began signing papers and waiting, then signing papers and waiting. I was under the impression that we decided on a used Blazer. It is almost time to go to work now, but there seems to be a lot more of the process to go, so I ask to leave, saying I would do it another time. BILL HEARD Chevrolet said that I had to stay to finish because I already signed over my car to them. Then they handed me my plates.
I called my work and told them that I would be late. Then I called back again a half an hour later and desperately asked them if I could have the night off. They said no and told me I needed to be there pronto. I told BILL HEARD Chevrolet that I HAD TO GO!!! Then they told me I could not have the Blazer with out giving them more cash right then. I said that I thought the deal was already done and that I didn't have more cash. BILL HEARD Chevrolet said the deal was done, except for which car I would take, and that I didn't qualify for the Blazer.
I asked for my car back so I could leave now and BILL HEARD Chevrolet said that it was not my car anymore. I began to get upset, anxious, and frantic. I didn't know what to say, so I asked them what I was suppossed to do. They showed me 3 or 4 cars on their used lot that I could have. I needed to get to work, so I picked a small Pontiac that was decent, but not at all what I wanted.
I went into the financing office to sign more papers and told this man I needed to hurry to get to work. He typed up some papers and gave them to me. All the papers were typed with someone elses info. I pointed this out, then once again told him I was out of time and that I had to leave. He said that I could go, but for me to just sign these other papers that had no information typed on them yet and he would type them up after I left. I could pick them up in the morning when I bring them my title. I signed the blank contracts and he gave me the keys to the Pontiac and I went to work.
I came back the next morning and when I received the papers I had a 5 year 24% APR on an $11,000 car, which totaled about $45,000 for this little car that I didn't even want. Now I said that this was unfair and unreasonable. I wanted my car back now and I would not leave until they gave it to me. I sat there listening to different people from different departments of BILL HEARD Chevorelet tell me that what I wanted was impossible and that everthing was already final and legal. I began crying and finally called my dad to come down and help me after spending hours there.
When my dad arrived he looked at the situation and the paperwork, became angry, and told BILL HEARD Chevrolet that they lied and took advantage of me and that he wanted my car back now. BILL HEARD Chevrolet told him no at first, so he asked to talk to someone higher at the dealership and threatened to retain an attorney. A few minutes later a man came in the office with my car key and told us that my Ford was outside and that everything will be thought of as if it didn't happen.
My father and I left, but we left very stressed out and I was traumatized and weak. Please BEWARE of this business. They are crooked and selfish!
