1st Repair: Dropped off mid November. Complaint was clutch went inop and bike started to run hot at approximately 30 miles of HWY driving. 1st Diagnosis: Needs brake fluid only - fixed (When stated that the brake fluid was just topped off and had to be leaking somewhere: 2nd Diagnosis: Bleed air out of radiator, replace slave cylinder - cost $250. A week passed 3rd Diagnosis: Need to replace a "tube" - $300 more total cost $525. Assured bike did not over-heat.
1ST Comeback: After 3 round trips, same overheating symptom at hwy speed, except problem occurred at 20 instead of 30 miles. As I slowed down, the temperature gauge would resume normal readings. I was told that the bike was not over-heating, that it just needed a "cap" and antifreeze. Approximate cost $100.
2nd Comeback: Range now down to 10 miles, was told that the bike was NOT overheating, that simply the gauge was inop, a common problem with that year Yamaha, and that their mechanic idled the bike " with the gauge pegged" for over 1/2 and hour. I did notice that the filler door for my antifreeze was broken, after 4 months, was happy to get it back
and just drove away.
3rd Comeback: Returned after bike was severely after 6 miles of hwy driving. An attempt to ridicule me was made by Mark Ridgeway, " Couldn't be the head gasket - You wouldn't run the bike overheated like a woman... I mean, like a woman would you?" although that was precisely what their mechanic did. This after 2 weeks had passed from the comeback and 5 mos from the 1st visit (4 mos in their shop total).
