I have always purchased tires from Discount Tire and have been pleased. However, this last purchase has me more then upset. I bought 2 new Kumho Ecsta's June for about $100 a piece (not including mounting, tax etc). I have a company car and very rarely drive my personal vehicle which these tires we mounted on. I probably put about 10-20 miles a day on my personal vehicle, MAX. Well these tires are VERY loud, I didnt like them and decided to upgrade all 4 March.
Went to the same location in Little Elm TX and worked with Anthony (GREAT GUY). He understood my complaint, matched another sellers price for some Continental DWS tires and offered a partial refund ($40 each) for my Kumho's which had roughly 5,000 miles used. That is MORE than enough to make any customer happy. Problem is the Little Elm store didnt have the new tires in stock so they sent me to the Plano store confirming they will honor my invoice from Little Elm. Got there and these guys are nothing but rude and unaware of how customer service works.
They made me once again show proof of the cheaper tires at Tirerack.com (not believing their own employee), refused any type of refund for the tires that were nearly new and accused me of lying about the amount of mileage placed on the tires, claiming the invoice from the purchase must have had incorrect mileage. The discount tire rep at the Plano store said I must drive my car more than what the odometer shows (because everyone clearly drives 15k a year). After some discussion and arguing about the different agreement from another store, they agreed to refund part of the Kumho tires.
Well, I ended up getting money back for each tire. I paid over $100 for them months earlier, put 5k miles on them and got $20 bucks back! Funny thing is they list these tires on Ebay for $85 used... I now feel like they stole $120 dollars from me. I in no way expected a full refund but I DO expect them to stand behind their product.in this case, I went back to them with a problem and while one store works head over heels to do the right thing, another merely robs them. I dont expect a full refund but would have thought the tires would be worth nearly half of what I paid since there was such little use of them.
Not to mention its always great to be accused of lying, then forking over $650 bucks on some tires. I was purchasing a much higher quality of tire, so they were getting my business on a better tire and decided to screw me. I will now be purchasing my tires from Firestone. Its sad that one store can be so great while another can be a giant a*. Thanks Michael from Ohio and 121 Discount Tire... You will NEVER see my business again.
