I went to this dealership in answer to an advertised internet sale ad for the actual vehicle I ended up purchasing, only I was not given the advertised sale price of $28,698.instead I ended up paying the MSRP of $31,850 less my well-deserved loyalty rebate.
The following business day I called the manager, Alex Tsvang, and told him my concerns. Alex was polite and courteous with me on the phone. He said that the ad must have been a mistake and that he couldn't possibly sell the vehicle for that price without losing a lot of money on the deal, but that he would look into it. I told him I would be in later that day to discuss it with him.
When I went back to the dealership that next business day to 1) get my new car detailed as promised and 2) get this sale price issue addressed in person, Mr. Tsvang was conveniently unavailable. I was there for over an hour. I announced my presence to the receptionist, my salesman and several other salesmen on the sales floor all to no avail. He was in the office, but with a customer... Or out on the lot... Or maybe he went to lunch. He didn't answer pages. It seems that Alex Tsvang went stealth on me. Don't you just admire courage and integrity? I know I do. These qualities seem to be foreign to Mr. Tsvang.
To make matters worse, upon my return to the dealership to see Mr. Tsvang, my salesman, Bill Logan, denied seeing ANY price on the ad we brought in and handed to him on the day we made the purchase. I made a point to leave a second copy I printed of the same ad on Mr. Tsvang's desk for him to review. I have yet to hear back from him two full days later.
Follow my logic here, if you will. Why would we bring in an ad with NO PRICE? Do people really research a vehicle online, take the trouble to print out the info (4 pages worth) on the specific vehicle they want (VIN number and all), come in to the dealership who advertised the vehicle and then say "I really don't care what it costs, I just want this vehicle!"??? I don't think so. At least no one I have ever known would do that.
You know, I'm not really all that mad that I paid $31,350 (with my loyalty rebate of $500) plus whatever. Honestly, I was expecting to go to the dealership to find out the one they had advertised had sold earlier in the day, etc. Using the old "Bait and Switch" ploy, as most retailers do and then pay for whatever deal they were offering me on a comparable vehicle. But no, they just decided it was more convenient to lie to me, declare the ad was "a mistake" and blow it off, as you do.
I do love my new CX-9 and for the most part the sales experience as a whole was not an all together unpleasant experience. They have the financing process down to about 15 minutes WAC. Lisa was awesome. However, when you do me wrong and lie to my face about it, expect nothing less than to be called onto the mat for it.
I will be more than happy to relate my story to anyone who will listen and recommend that anyone who is in the market for a new Mazda vehicle AVOID this dealership if you are coming in to get a sale price you saw online, even if you have the ad in your hot little hand when you go. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
One a positive note, the evening I purchased my CX-9, I had just signed the contract and told Lisa, the finance maven, I thought I was entitled to a free set of locking lug nuts. She referred me to Alex whom I jokingly told what I expected to get for no charge. He promptly dug a (matched) set out of a drawer for me (lug key and all) for no charge. There was no registration card with the set, but then what do you expect for only $3100?
