Wando, Lone Star Autobody and Paint (Wando) Beware - Scam

After a bit of due diligence on the internet, I settled on this business to have my car repaired. Had the estimate generated by Progressive called this business, spoke to Wando the owner. Set an appointment, brought my car and the estimate and settled on an amount to repair to the car. $1000
the estimate was for $1500.

I called to check on progress, I wasn't in a hurry but 10 days later seemed more than enough time to repair the car. I was told to pick-up the next day. Cash only - uh oh. At this point I thought I did not receive any kind of estimate from him. I had just given him my estimate from Progressive.

When I went to pick-up the car I could tell from about 30 feet it was a disaster. Not one part as detailed on the estimate had been replaced. It was all very bad bondo work. The paint had major runs and orange peeling in it. They car had not been masked off so there was over-spray on the radiator and wheel wells. The bumper and fender which are two pieces were painted together thereby fusing them together, flexing has already produced cracks.

I was very upset with him and let it be known that it looked like a four year old with a box of crayons had fixed my car. He blamed the cold weather for the paint saying that it caused the orange peeling, that heaters in the paint room were broken. He blamed his painter. He appealed to me that he just wanted me to be happy and he wanted to be friends.

The bottom line. I gave him $400 dollars for the work which was still a rip-off. It was clear that he could have held my car over this dispute. I had already turned in my rental car. I have no doubt that to have repaired correctly will cost the same as the original estimate plus more for fixing the over-spray issues.

To put the icing on the cake, when Progressive called the business to ask why a 3 day job took 10 he lied to them and said that I chose to drop it off knowing that he was a week behind. He begged me to bring it in the day before Thanksgiving. Guess that makes him a liar as well as a scam artist. He kept talking about his family and God. Curious. Maybe he's just crazy.

I will up-load pictures soon.
