I very well maintain several of the vehicles in my household. I recently visited the South Portland location of Prompto Oil for a quick and easy oil change service. After driving into the bay, I explained to the mechanic that I only wanted the oil changed and air pressure checked in the tires, and nothing else. As the folks were beginning to work on the car, a VW, in an effort to make the stay as quick as possible, I attempted to pay for the work. I was advised by the assistant manager that the work needed to be finished before paying just in case anything else turned up that needed fixing. I informed him that the car recently had its wipers repaced, the car was washed/cleaned inside and out only moments before and that I wanted nothing else done to the car. He asked which car I drove, he then advised that there would be a $5.00 surcharge for the oil filter claiming that my VW takes a "special" filter.
