We were quoted by "Mike" an amount of $798.00 to transport our vehicle cross-country, which required a $150.00 "deposit" (his fee). We paid this deposit via credit card. This left a balance$648.00that was due to the driver when our vehicle arrived - this amount confirmed by "Mike".
When the truck driver contacted us shortly before he arrived with our vehicle, he wanted to confirm that we'd have the $750.00cash ready for him. We argued that we were quoted $648.00 by "Mike"/Park Avenue Auto Transport. He stated that the $750.00 amount had been the price all along, and that if we didn't pay the full amount, he would be forced to take back the vehicle. With no other recourse, and in need of our family vehicle, we paid the full amount.
We called "Mike", left multiple messages with no returned calls. We got snagged by a textbook "Bait and Switch". He lured us in with a low ball quote, when the $750.00 amount was the delivery fee all along. Read and take heed to their "terms and conditions" on their website, in particular the part that states, "Park Avenue Transport does not guarantee the final price from the driver (Cod)." And that's where they get you, that's their out. Spread the word to any and all interested in transporting their auto - STAY AWAY FROM PARK AVENUE DIRECT AUTOTRANSPORT!
