Terr Misleading on auto dianosis to allow excessive overcharges. Work started before authorization given. Vehicle held for payment of alledged work done

I had to have my car towed to US Automotive. I never signed anything for any service. Terry, the manager, did a verbal on "diagnosing" the problem. He was to call me and let me know the situation. He was stacked up, so it would be a few days. One week later, I called and found out they had pulled the motor and had started repairs totaling $1300 to that point. The vehicle was worth $500 before he problem. He was eager to assume the title in lieu of cash payment. This went on for nearly 7 weeks. Finally, I waited until he was busy and went in to talk. Since there was no written agreement and there was nothing posted in the office, I had to barter to get my now in pieces vehicle back. When he pushed it out of a building, it was apparent he was stripping parts. He broke the windshield as his last act. I had the vehicle body and several boxes of parts towed to Colorado, to my brothers place. He is doing the reconstruction and found a leak in a radiator hose and a faulty water pump. The damages done were considerable and I believe it was because as a female who knows a little about motors, I challenged or embarrassed his ego. I have had several of my clients that have had similar situations with Terry at US Automotive, West Bypass at Sunshine, Springfield, Missouri.
