Sells commercial vehicles with known defects

We've been having trouble with this truck since the day we purchased it. During the first two weeks of ownership we had electrical problems and the Onan generator had to be worked on. We were down for almost a week with that and also had to turn down loads because our "new" truck needed service. On 5/31 and 7/22/10 we had to have the entire air condition system replaced. While the services were covered, what wasnt covered was our down time and the fact that we had to refuse loads while the repairs were made. We understand that there may be down time from time to time, but we did not expect this in a new truck. We know of several other people who are having the same kind of problem we are regarding their air condition system. On the Border, the Freightliner service shop in El Paso, TX informed us that they replace a lot of these systems. The final straw for us was when on 8/9/10 the transmission had to be replaced because the lines running from the transmission to the transmission cooler were installed too close together. At first they told us that it wasn't covered under warranty and that it was our fault as we did not have the vehicle serviced as we should. Well, we had just had a PM done only a few days before and all our fluid levels were normal.in fact the people at Petro told us that the leak we had them check out the day after our PM was done was in fact a coolant leak. While they did not have the parts on hand, they did advise us that it was okay to run with the truck in that condition so long as we made sure that the coolant didn't run low. They told us that they would put brackets on the lines and duct tape them. They said that would hold it until we got it to a shop near our home. Unfortunately, they were wrong in their diagnosis. The leak was in fact a transmission fluid leak. Which is why they (Petro) immediately offered to go in half on the cost of replacing the transmission. Freightliner was another matter. We were lucky enough to have a contact high up at Freightliner. Because of that, they finally agreed to replace the transmission. But, they replaced it with a rebuilt transmission. The original transmission had a 750,000 mile warranty on it. The rebuilt transmission only has 350,000 miles. On 9/22/10 the air conditioning system had to be replaced again. This time we had to pay because Freightliner's policy is that a part is covered under warranty does not have any additional warranty on it. So, when the original warranty runs out the customer is just out of luck and just has to pay for the repair and replacement for themselves. We filed a complaint with the Richard Cordray, Attorney General of Ohio. They informed us that they could only help if FYDA agreed with the problem we were having. If they did not we would then have to retain an attorney on our own. We are now in the process of doing just that.in the mean time, please be very, very careful in who you chose to get your truck from. If at all possible, do not do business with FYDA. The owners of this company have deep pockets and a lot of political clout. Our truck cost $225,000. For that kind of money we expected quality.instead what we got was a toy truck! For example: the storage compartments over each seat in the front broke almost immediately and the rubber insulation on the driver's side window has come out. We could have that happen on a cheap truck. We thought that the name Freightliner meant something. Well, it does: it means cheap and defective. If at all possible chose another type truck other than Freightliner. What the name use to mean and what it means now are two different stories! While we certainly appreciate that our transmission was replaced, this shouldn't have happened at all. Who ever heard of a truck's transmission leaking out all of its fluids within the first six months and having to be replaced? That doesn't sound like a reliable truck to us.
