Failure to perform all aspects of contract..
I booked a 14 ft uhaul and auto transport trailer 1 week before November 1st need. I was moving out of state one way rental. Quoted price, $350 truck $79 trailer. I arrived Nov1st as agreed, truck was paid for and taken, and the promised trailer was not available. I had to return the next day to pick it up.
I recieved a rude and arrogant phone call from the owner asking why i hadnt picked up the truck i reserved. I answered that i have the truck in possesion and the contract is open because you owe me the trailer you failed to have. His response? This isnt about blame. HA! After being confrontational about the truck himself..
The trailer wasnt available until 3 hours later. A loss for me of time and 1 1/2 days use. When i arrived to pick up the trailer, the attendant printed the contract for me to sign and pay at $192.. 2 1/2 times the quoted price. I refused and asked for remedy and was told to come back later. Unfortunately for them the trailer was hooked up already so i left with it, since my credit card was on file and my bank protects me from fraud..
UHAUL themselves called me instead of this independent gypsy thief, and offer to take care of the contract over the phone. LOL same problem, but in the end the quoted price was honored PLUS a $75 dollar fee because he could not swipe my card over the phone. Really. The uhaul district manager. Lol wait. It gets better..
7 hours later the truck fully loaded at the curb in front of my home, ready to drive 300 miles after a day and a half delay waiting on equipment. And. The truck breaks down. I call UHAULS' 24 hour emergency service number and they tell me a mechanic will arrive in an hour... He was prompt. But, alas, only a tow truck driver able to jump the vehicle. After i made it clear the battery was fine and it was a fuel problem.
BUT, that is the onl service available for a broken uhaul after hours? (6pm)?? Tow, jump or tire change. 2 tow truck drivers later. The truck sits overnight on the street waiting to be towed tommorrow at 7am MAYBE. And here i sit paying for a hotel and taxi. That may get reimbursed with no surity...
Mitchells... The worst business man and ethics violation ever... Uhaul corp. The worst support of fleet rental in my personal history..
