We bought a vehicle from what we assumed was a reputable auto mechanic located in the town where we live. The vehicle was in need of inspection so we told him to inspect it. Upon taking possession of it we noticed the brakes were not good and there was a cracking noise in the front end. We took it back and were told the master cylinder needed to be replaced. After waiting for 4 days he finally got the part and put it on. I had the vehicle back several times since for brake problems and it still was not resolved. We took the vehicle to another mechanic who took it in to look at it the very next day.
We have since learned that this vehicle should not have even had an inspection sticker put on it. There are numerous things wrong with it that should have been addressed when Fortis inspected it but he put a sticker on it which told me that it was safe to drive. Turns out in order for this vehicle to be safe to drive it will cost me $1700.00 on top of the $300.00 or so dollars I already payed to Fortis. The vehicle needs everything from Brake work to muffler and tailpipe, Ball Joints, steering rods and many other things.
